Daniel In The Lion's Den - Alternative Version Part 3 (MP3)

O Lord, you are a great and awesome God; you always fulfill your promises of mercy to those who love you (you always do) and who keep your laws. 5 But we have sinned so much; we rebelled against you and scorned your commands. 6 We have refused to listen to your servants the prophets, whom you have sent again and again... down through the years... to our kings, princes, presidents and to all the people.

Daniel 9:7 (MP3)

7 O Lord you are so right with your righteousness; but for us, we are shamefaced. We are disgraced. Yes, it is us all that will cause the fall. All of us -- the people scattered near and far wherever you have driven us. 8 O Lord, we and our kings, princes, presidents, fathers, sisters and brothers are weighted down with shame. We are shamefaced and disgraced.

9 But the Lord our God is merciful, and pardons even those who rebelled against him.

10 O lord our God, we have disobeyed you; we have flouted all your laws. Daniel 9:11 (MP3) 11 All of us have disobeyed; we have turned away (day after day) from you and haven't listened to your voice. Why do we make this choice? And so the awesome curse of God has crushed us -- the curse written in the law through Moses your servant. 12 And you have done exactly as you warned us you would do, for never in history have we been heading faster, and faster toward disaster. 13 Every curse against us has come true; all evils predicted -- all have come. But even so we still refuse to satisfy the Lord our God by turning to do what is right. We lack the might to gain insight.

Daniel 9:14 (MP3)

14 And so the Lord deliberately crushed us with the calamity she prepared; she is rair in everthing she does (and always was) but we would not obey (a single word she would say.) O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by helping your people. Lord, please do it again! I am begging! Though we are full of wickedness 16 please give us forgiveness and turn away your furious anger from your cities and your holy mountain. For the heathens mock you because your city lies in ruins for our sins.

Daniel 9:17 (MP3)

17 "Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

Daniel 9:19 (MP3)

19 O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name."

Daniel 9:20 (MP3)

The Seventy "Sevens"
20 While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the LORD my God for his holy hill- 21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He instructed me and said to me, "Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the message and understand the vision:

Daniel 9:24 (MP3)

24 "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. 25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
