Candlelight Concert for Epilepsy AwarenessThe
Candlelight Concert for Epilepsy Awareness is a fundraising concert
scheduled on March 24th, 2012 at the Patriots Theater, Trenton NJ with
all proceeds to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey (EFNJ) and
the Epilepsy Foundation of America (EFA). Founded in 1970, EFNJ has
over 40 years of advocacy, activism and education on behalf of those
living with epilepsy. EFNJ ensures that people with seizures are able to
participate in all life experiences; and will prevent, control and cure
epilepsy through services, education, advocacy and research. Often a
catalyst in legislative acts designed to improve lives, EFNJ educates
the public and healthcare professionals about epilepsy and treatments
and addresses psychological issues, such as depression, discrimination
and stigmatization. The venue for the Candlelight Concert for Epilepsy
Awareness will be The Patriots Theater in Trenton, NJ. Dating back to
1932 and one of New Jersey's most illustrious theaters, the Patriots
Theater at the Trenton War Memorial was originally built to honor
soldiers of the First World War. In January 1999, the memorial reopened
following a meticulous historic preservation and renovation, and the
theater was renamed in 2001. The 35 million dollar restoration not only
returned the entire building to its original splendor, but readied it
for 21st Century use by providing improved patron amenities,
state-of-the-art technical theater upgrades, acoustical improvements and
ADA compliance. There will be sponsorships and donations from local
and national businesses, as well various fundraising activities and
informational services provided by Epilepsy Foundation members and
volunteers. EFNJ is proud to report that, in 2010, $.96 of every $1.00
donated directly benefitted those it served. This is a very high metric
for a non-profit in any field, and most certainly indicative of its
