30 Seconds to Mars performing at the Electric Factory

30 Seconds to Mars Electric Factory (2010) | Church of Mars (2013)

The first time I saw Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars was at the old Electric Factory, a general-admission venue that always felt electric. This was one of the first concerts I took my daughter to, as she was a fan. Another band she recently favored, Neon Trees, was the opening act. She brought along one of her friends and we had a great time.

The highlight for Dani was meeting Elaine Doty of Neon Trees . I would later cross paths again with Neon Trees in 2012 .

The show was loud and intense, with occasional moshing. During a barrage of strobe lights, a teenage girl standing in front of me fainted and collapsed. I managed to catch her before she hit the floor.

After the show, she kept thanking me. I explained what I do at KingArthur.com, and she told me she fronted a young band from the Lehigh Valley. We became friends, and I later filmed her band — another reminder of the generosity and connection within the music community.
