One of my first favorite rock stars was Eddie Money. When his first album came out in December 1977, it immediately struck a note. I've probably seen Eddie as many times as any band, including the Brandywine Club in 1984, West Chester University in 1989, the Soberfest tour at the Pat Garrett Amphitheater in Atlantic City, the Chestnut Cabaret in 1992, and Xfinity Live in Philadelphia, PA. Some songs I've seen Page 1 and Page 2
The first time I saw Eddie was at the Brandywine Club for the Where's the Party? tour. Though there is no record of the exact setlist, I recall these songs being played:
Can't Keep a Good Man Down
Where's the Party?
Baby Hold On
Wanna Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star
Maybe Tomorrow
So Good to Be in Love Again
Get a Move On
The Big Crash
Take a Little Bit
My Friends, My Friends
Bad Girls
Club Michelle
Two Tickets to Paradise
No Control
Shakin'
Think I'm in Love
Rock and Roll the Place
In 1989, Eddie played West Chester University with Warrant opening the show. Warrant's lead singer, Jani Lane, came out in a dress and makeup to sing Ronnie Spector's part on Take Me Home Tonight. Eddie also played Two Tickets to Paradise, Baby Hold On, Shakin', Walk on Water, Dancing with Mr. Jitters, Endless Nights, I Wanna Go Back (Billy Satellite cover), Let Me In, No Control, Rock and Roll the Place, Wanna Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star, The Love in Your Eyes, Think I'm in Love, Gimme Some Water, and Where's the Party?
The most intimate time with Eddie was during the Unplug It In tour on April 4, 1992 at the Chestnut Cabaret in Center City Philadelphia. After the show, we hung out backstage for as long as we wanted. Eddie conversed and laughed with us for a long time.
The setlist included: Gimme Some Water, She Takes My Breath Away, Save a Little Room in Your Heart for Me, You've Really Got a Hold on Me (Smokey Robinson & The Miracles cover), Two Tickets to Paradise, Trinidad, Fall in Love Again, Running Back, and Get a Move On.
