The Moody Blues

The Moody Blues have always been one of my favorite bands, and I was fortunate enough to see them live on several occasions. The most memorable was the first time—at the Spectrum in Philadelphia—supporting the Long Distance Voyager album. Patrick Moraz had just joined the band.

After the concert, we stayed behind hoping to meet the band. To our surprise, Patrick Moraz came running up the ramp without a car. He was wearing big black boots and jumped right onto the hood of someone’s car, asking where the party was.

When he climbed down, he shook my hand—his giant keyboard-player fingers wrapping around my entire hand and wrist. It was one of those surreal, only-after-a-great-show moments.
