Appetite Stimulants

QUESTION

A viewer asked:
I am interested in finding an appetite stimulant. Which herb would be good for that and how would I prepare it?

ANSWER

There are several herbs that are good for appetite stimulants.

Thyme can be eaten fresh. Or, thyme can be hung upside down and dried for about 2 weeks. Dried thyme can be added to most cooked dishes and is also used as a rub. (A "rub" is when you take herbs and rub them into raw meat before cooking.)

Rosemary is similar to thyme.

Both winter and summer savory leaves may be eaten fresh, added to cooked dishes (like beans) or made into a tea.

Fenugreek seeds can be used to make a tea.

Ooops... and, I almost forgot one of my favorites -- chives. (The greens and purple flowers are quite good.)

Something else that I should mention about most of these things:
Small amounts help make you hunger for food.
Large amounts can do the opposite.

We hope this helps.

Sincerely,
