Born October 31, 1962
Son of James and Christina
Soon after being born in Kane, PA, the family moved to the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia. By age 4, the family moved to Clearfield, PA where Daniel lived until he was 17. The family moved to West Chester, PA the summer before Daniel's senior year of high school. He lived on campus for a year at West Chester University. Other locations that were home including Ocean City, NJ; Blue Bell, PA; and Schuylkill County, PA. Daniel moved back to West Chester in 2007 and cared for his parents until their death.
EDUCATION
Daniel graduated from West Chester East High School in 1980. After receiving an academic scholarship, Daniel attended West Chester University obtaining a BS in Business and Economics and a minor in Philosophy. Daniel excelled in math and science and was WCU's first statistics tutor. In 1984, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Phi Sigma Tau international honor society for philosophers, as well as, Pi Gamma Mu the oldest and preeminent honor society in the social sciences. Whether it be music, economics, or the physical sciences, research and development is/was the spirit, mind, and body of Daniel. The main economic interest of risk management proved crucial.
YOUTH
At the age of 8, Daniel was a state champion in swimming winning the 25 yard butterfly. Throughout his youth he was ranked nationally as a swimmer achieving the highest rankings in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Through his teens years he was also ranked in weight lifting and body building. At the age of 17, Daniel became the world's youngest weight lifting and body building promotor. Growing up on a river, Daniel was an excellent canoer and won competitions with his mother and brother. Other sports that Daniel excelled in included wrestling, cross country running, football, track and field, downhill skiing, water skiing, snorkeling, and body surfing. He enjoyed performing feats of strength, such as, working out with train wheels, taking body shots to the stomach, doing squats with two people stacked on his shoulders, and arm wrestling challengers left-handed against both of their hands.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Science and technology have always been central interests, with early aptitude in geology, biology, anthropology, meteorology, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. By the age of 18, Daniel had developed one of the world's first computer programs to file federal tax returns. In his early 20s, Daniel teamed with physicist Sidd Mukherjee from Ohio State University. Together, they helped pioneer much of the early World Wide Web and created one of the first web-based publishing platforms for artists and scientists, The Philadelphia Spirit Experiment Publishing Co.
Daniel and Sidd have published extensive research on climate change and were among the first to argue that climate change was not occurring in a linear fashion, but rather exponentially. Over time, their work expanded to include nonlinear acceleration, compounding feedback loops, drag physics, hydroclimate whiplash, climate tipping points, and coupled climate-economic systems.
"I am a scientist and journalist who has been publishing articles and papers since 1994. As part of a collective of scientists, we have been working on the greatest threat to humankind — humans. Much of my effort has focused on anthropogenic climate change. In addition, I have specialized in pollution, disease, health, and wellness," said Daniel.
In 2023, as a climatologist and economist, Daniel published The Age of Loss and Damage (Climate Change Economics and the Exponential Costs to Society). By 2026, Daniel and Sidd had further advanced research into coupled climate-economic systems, nonlinear acceleration, third-derivative behavior, and singularity-like dynamics.
MUSIC
As a youth, Daniel learned to play the piano and trumpet. He was a member of the marching band and orchastra. In his teens, he became interested in production and sound engineering. Over the years, he became a multi-instrumentalists playing the piano, trumpet, keyboards, synthesizers, guitar, bass, flute, drums, vocals, percussion, and various other instruments. In his 20's, he started a record company and was the first record company on the world wide web. He created and published the first made for internet songs and videos. Within a short period, Daniel had published thousands of original songs becoming one of the largest individual holders of copyrights in the USA.
CAREER
At age 13, Daniel became employed as a lifeguard and teacher. He loved working with children teaching hundreds of kids to swim. Later, he went on to teach thousands of people of all ages to swim. Daniel was also a camp counsler and instructor of: Indian lore, first aid, camping, hiking, canoeing, archery, rifely, nature, arts and crafts. In his college years, he became a swim team coach and camp director. Upon graduation, Daniel was employed as the Aquatic Director at Hunterdon County YMCA. Due to lack of compensation, Daniel changed careers and entered into a business management program. In his mid 20's, he obtained his real estate license and became a successful land broker in Montgomery, Bucks, and Chester County, PA. In his late 20's, he transitioned into banking, finance and investment. Having saved enough money, Daniel became an entrepreneur and started the first commercial web servers in 1994 at the age of 32. Within 3 years, he changed his focus to philanthropy helping artists and scientists around the world through The Membrane Domain (membrane.com) and KingArthur.com.
"Legends of King Arthur speak of Cavall, a mighty hunter and boon companion. Cavall was Arthur's "favourite dog". One of the only facts that can be documented about Arthur is how he wept upon his dog's death." Like King Arthur, Daniel loved his dogs. The only thing Daniel loved more than his dogs were his children, Christopher James Paul Brouse and Danielle Jane (Caras) Brouse.
EARLIEST MEMORIES
The earliest memories were from the age of 2 - 3. Grandfather Armstrong reciting nursery rhymes in Havertown, PA was an impactful start to life. Dogs were the other earliest impression. As a 2 and 3-year-old, Danny acquired a dog whistle and would put a dog treat in his pocket. Somehow able to elude parental supervision, he would set out in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia and collect a pack of dogs. Sometimes numbering more than a dozen loose canines, he would move about very well protected. Throughout his life, Danny imaged the scene would be repeated in heaven -- greeted, surrounded, and protected by his pack of dog friends.
QOUTES
In 1997 his mentor, Sidd Mukherjee, said of Daniel, "You do not suffer fools gladly."
In 2007, Christopher Brouse said, "Dad, you are a little too smart for your own good."
