Imagine Dreamer Creator
(adlib intro. -- best word to describe Christina)

My mom was ingenious.

Ingenious:

1) showed and called for intelligence, aptitude, and discernment

2) had and showed an unusual aptitude for discovering, inventing, and contriving

3) was marked by originality, resourcefulness, and cleverness in conception and execution

My mom possessed ingeniousness.

Her sister recalled, "When I think of my sister, Chrissie, I remember how she used to make me fairy skirts out of crepe paper when I was little, and how we used to look for fairy houses of moss in the woods behind the White Cottage and Monkey Cage on Kennebecasus Island"

Her childhood friend recalled, "you and I would take a peanut butter and jam sandwich and head into the woods -- no path to follow -- just having an adventure. I love you Chris, my little fairy sister."

When Christopher was a child, he would like to sit in a box at his "Mom-mom's" house and pretend he was the captain of ship. He would sit directly in front of his Mom-mom's painting of a clipper ship... and they would imagine."

In the late 1970's, my mom asked me about a couple of songs that she heard me listening to, including "Dust In The Wind" and "Come Sail Away". She developed a teaching curriculum for creative writing and incorporated the songs into the program.

The lyrics seem fitting for sparking imagination on this day, too.

So, instead of just remembering Christina, let us try imagining her... like Christopher sitting in his box, "Come Sail Away".

I'm sailing away set an open course for the virgin sea

I've got to be free free to face the life that's ahead of me

On board I'm the captain so climb aboard

We'll search for tomorrow on every shore

And I'll try oh Lord I'll try to carry on

I look to the sea reflections in the waves spark my memory

Some happy some sad

I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had

We live happily forever so the story goes

But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold

But we'll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head

They sang to me this song of hope and this is what they said

They said come sail away come sail away

I close my eyes, only for a moment

And the moment's gone

All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity

Dust in the wind

All they are is dust in the wind

Same old song, just a drop of water

In an endless sea

All we do crumbles to the ground

Though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky

It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

Everything is dust in the wind

I thought that they were angels but to my surprise

They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies

Singing, come sail away come sail away

Come sail away with me
