During World War II, she was a little girl (5 to 8-years-old.) After remembering all the shortages and difficulties, she recalled not having felt that fear again. The United States has felt safe and secure for the rest of her life.<\/p>\n<p>During the war period, a horse drawn carriage would bring a block of ice for the refrigerator. It wasn&#8217;t until after the war that the family could get an electric refrigerator and freezer for ice cream.<\/p>\n<p>December 7, 1941 \u2014 &#8220;a date which will live in infamy,&#8221; President Franklin D.
