[Intro]
Undercover? (Soon to discover)
Gotta go deeper (Way down deep)

[Verse 1]
Have you heard the word?
(It’s gettin’ harder every day)
Better zip the lip
(Or face rapid decay)

[Bridge]
Undercover? (Soon to discover)
Gotta go deeper (Way down deep)

[Chorus]
Beware of the Führer
(He attacks the fact)
Don’t take it further
(Or there’s no turning back)

[Bridge]
Wake from your sleep
(Going down deep)
Deep, deep, deep

[Verse 2]
Watch! (Whispers carry)
No, not a word contrary
Better hide your hide
(From the tribe outside)

[Bridge]
[Chorus]
Beware of the Führer
(He attacks the fact)
Don’t take it further
(Or there’s no turning back)

[Outro]
Going down
(Going down deeper)
Deep, deep, deep

Wake from your sleep
(Going down deep)
Deep, deep, deep…
Going down

ABOUT THE SONG
As an investigative journalist with decades of experience defending the First Amendment, I’ve faced more than my share of danger. My life has been threatened, my family targeted, I’ve been assaulted by both criminals and police. I’ve been fined, arrested, jailed, and dragged through years of court battles. But I have never seen anything as alarming as what is happening today.

On September 18, 2025, Donald Trump declared that any television network critical of him would risk having its broadcast license revoked. These words came the day after ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended, following the earlier cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Trump’s message is unmistakable: dissenting voices will be silenced.

Since his return to power, Trump has wasted no time weaponizing the legal system against his perceived enemies — especially the press. Major networks like ABC, CBS, and even independent journalists are drowning under an endless barrage of lawsuits. These suits are not designed to win in court; they are designed to financially cripple media organizations, bury them in legal fees, and intimidate others into silence. A Justice Department that now resembles a political death squad is carrying out these vendettas. The question is no longer “will someone stop him?” but “is there anyone left who can?”

Access to the White House briefing room has also become a weapon. Critical outlets — including Reuters, once considered the gold standard of global journalism — have been barred from daily briefings, their press credentials revoked without explanation. Independent reporters are routinely denied access, while hand-picked pro-Trump media figures are given front-row seats and unlimited opportunities to lob softball questions. By choking off access to information, Trump has turned what was once the people’s press room into a propaganda stage.

And the assault extends beyond the newsroom. Across the country, state and federal authorities are escalating their crackdowns on peaceful protests. Ordinary Americans exercising their constitutional rights to assembly and free speech are being arrested and charged. Their “crime”? Opposing war, genocide, or environmental destruction. At the recent Hands Off! protests, chants weren’t just against military aggression — they demanded the release of political prisoners currently held inside the United States.

Disturbingly, several activists have been detained without due process. Others have been deported, in open violation of constitutional protections. This is not the America our founders envisioned.

It’s no longer a matter of speculation whether your First Amendment rights are under attack. They are. And as someone who has dedicated a career to protecting those rights, I can report — without hesitation — that the First Amendment has already been compromised. The only question now is whether Americans will recognize it in time to fight back.

A SCIENCE NOTE: Energy Secretary Disbands Controversial Climate Working Group After Scientific Rebuke Energy Secretary Chris Wright has officially disbanded the Department of Energy’s controversial Climate Working Group (CWG), a body that came under fire for producing a climate report riddled with inaccuracies and scientific distortions.

The move, first reported by CNN and later confirmed by NPR, follows months of scrutiny over how the CWG was formed and how its report was produced. On September 3rd, Wright sent a letter to the group’s five members — all hand-picked climate skeptics — thanking them for their service and formally dissolving the group.

The CWG’s report immediately sparked outrage in the scientific community. Dozens of independent climate scientists issued a joint rebuttal, stating the report was filled with errors, selective use of data, and misrepresentations of established climate science. Many characterized the report not as science, but as propaganda designed to cast doubt on the overwhelming consensus that human-driven greenhouse gas emissions are destabilizing the planet’s climate system.

The decision to disband the CWG comes against the backdrop of an ongoing lawsuit filed by the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). As NPR previously reported, the lawsuit alleges that Wright and the Department of Energy violated federal law by secretly assembling the group and excluding qualified experts with diverse scientific perspectives. By limiting authorship to five individuals who shared a narrow, skeptical view of climate science, critics argue, the administration attempted to manufacture doubt where there is none.

For many observers, the CWG represented yet another attempt by the Trump administration to sideline mainstream climate science and replace it with industry-aligned skepticism. The episode illustrates the political battles surrounding climate science in the U.S., where overwhelming peer-reviewed evidence of warming, extreme weather intensification, and feedback-driven risks continues to clash with efforts to delay meaningful action on fossil fuel dependence.

By dissolving the CWG, Wright has effectively acknowledged the group’s lack of credibility. But for environmental advocates and scientists, the damage done by such efforts lingers: each attempt to undermine climate science erodes public trust, delays urgently needed climate policy, and deepens the crisis at hand.

* Our probabilistic, ensemble-based climate model — which incorporates complex socio-economic and ecological feedback loops within a dynamic, nonlinear system — projects that global temperatures are becoming unsustainable this century. This far exceeds earlier estimates of a 4°C rise over the next thousand years, highlighting a dramatic acceleration in global warming. We are now entering a phase of compound, cascading collapse, where climate, ecological, and societal systems destabilize through interlinked, self-reinforcing feedback loops.

We examine how human activities — such as deforestation, fossil fuel combustion, mass consumption, industrial agriculture, and land development — interact with ecological processes like thermal energy redistribution, carbon cycling, hydrological flow, biodiversity loss, and the spread of disease vectors. These interactions do not follow linear cause-and-effect patterns. Instead, they form complex, self-reinforcing feedback loops that can trigger rapid, system-wide transformations — often abruptly and without warning. Grasping these dynamics is crucial for accurately assessing global risks and developing effective strategies for long-term survival.

What Can I Do?Solutions to the Fossil Fuel Economy and the Myths Accelerating Climate and Economic Collapse.

Tipping points and feedback loops drive the acceleration of climate change. When one tipping point is toppled and triggers others, the cascading collapse is known as the Domino Effect.

ABOUT THE SONG
“On the sly” is an English idiom that means to do something secretly or furtively, often because it is considered wrong or should not be done, but sometimes just to keep it private. For example, someone might take a piece of candy “on the sly” to avoid getting in trouble, or a couple might meet “on the sly” if their relationship is not supposed to be known.
