The Egyptians saw the eclipse as a sow swallowing the moon for a short time; other cultures view the eclipse as the Moon being swallowed by other animals, such as a jaguar in Mayan tradition, or a three legged toad in China. Some societies thought it was a demon swallowing the moon, and that they could chase it away by throwing stones and curses at it. The Greeks were ahead of their time when they said the Earth was round and used the shadow from the lunar eclipse as evidence. Some Hindus believe in the importance of bathing in the Ganges River following an eclipse because it will help you achieve salvation.

Similarly to the Mayans, the Incans believed that lunar eclipses were when a jaguar would eat the moon, which is why a blood moons look red.

The ancient Mesopotamians believed that a lunar eclipse was when the moon was being attacked by seven demons.

In some Chinese cultures, people would ring bells to prevent a dragon or other wild animals from biting the moon.

ABOUT THE SONG
Chords
Em Bm
Am G Em

80 BPM / Cool Night

An extemporaneous 1-track stereo recording.

Daniel — Vocals, Keyboards, Synthesizers (microKorg; Yamaha PSR-740; miniNova, Alesis Vortex)

From the album Daily Lessons
by Daniel Brouse

LYRICS A total eclipse of the moon It’ll happen none to soon Total eclipse of the moon Omniscient Reminiscent Of days gone by Bye-bye Why am I Why am I Under the sky Total eclipse of the moon It happened none to soon Before mankind’s fall at high noon At the present Being omniscient of […]

[6,9,1806,14,16
3235,198,2687,1819,269,272,312,315,1787,333,420,458,487,539,556,578,1567,613,1281,1928,2365,2492,759,781,782,819,2260,897
post-14366","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-chords","category-daniel","category-digital-yoda","category-lyrics","category-mother-natures-sons","tag-daily-lessons","tag-daniel-brouse","tag-edm","tag-electronic-dance-music","tag-experimental","tag-extemporaneous","tag-free","tag-free-downloads","tag-fusion","tag-future","tag-impromptu","tag-keyboards","tag-live","tag-mp3","tag-music","tag-new","tag-on-the-fly","tag-original","tag-progressive-rock","tag-psychedelia","tag-rock-music","tag-shuffle","tag-singer","tag-songs","tag-songwriter","tag-streaming","tag-synthesizers","tag-vocals
["GET
