Recent studies have shown that low-level ozone (O\u2083)<\/strong>\u2014a major air pollutant formed by the reaction of sunlight with vehicle and industrial emissions\u2014negatively affects vegetation in several ways, leading to a climate feedback loop<\/strong> that worsens global warming.<\/p>\n

1. Reduced CO\u2082 Intake by Vegetation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Plants and trees absorb carbon dioxide (CO\u2082) from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. However, exposure to tropospheric ozone<\/strong> damages leaf tissues, reducing their ability to take in CO\u2082. This occurs in several ways:<\/p>\n
