Songwriting on the Brandywine

LYRICS
Do you know what I mean
When I sing “floating down stream”?
Behave with the energy wave
… to the sea
Try to keep your head above water
Don’t ever go down for the third time
It really does matter
Living the nursery rhyme
Floating down stream
My body a boat in the dream
Embody “about” in the dream

LYRICS
Mother Nature says
It’s only a phase
The nuclear age
The good ole days
Have parted ways
Mother Nature says
It’s only a phase
Only a stage
Postmodern rage
Comin’ clean on the war machine
Funded by our ghetto scenes
The American dream going up in steam
From growing a heart that’s mean
Redeem!

The more I dream
The redeem scene
Obscene come clean
I mean the dream
No longer mean
Loving is keen
Heart is the queen
Mercy is seen
The redeem scene

LYRICS
Man, how much human
Can we endure
How much more?
Fouled land, air and sea
Haven’t we
All ’bout me
(Imagine that)
Habitat sure got hot
It’s not the heat… nor humidity
It is humanity
… or lack thereof
It’s all about the love
You see — humanity
… or lack thereof

Purveyors of music, song and dance
Let’s give ’em one more chance
Convey what we hear Her say
Mother Nature’s messenger
Know Her… be no stranger
Ensure we endure
It is humanity
… or lack thereof
It’s all about the love
You see — humanity
… or lack thereof

LYRICS
What do your wealth and mouth
Have in common?
Money is a medium of exchange
And so is language
Pop the cork… champagne fizz
Put your money where you mouth is
Her’s and His’

Want to transfer fast cash fast
Don’t let another moment pass
Pay your dues in the past
Your word is in the future’s grasp
Don’t let strife
Ruin your life
Free yourself from the chains of exchange
Make Mother Nature your wife
Put your money where your mouth is
There’s an urgency in this currency quiz
Her’s and His’

LYRICS
A most amazing thing
When I started to sing
The animals threw a ball
A bird call went out to all
Butterflies fluttering
Flirting with the wind
Man’s troubles abandoned

In the most amazing way
When I started to play
Critters began to party
Their animal spirits set free
The bird call went out to all
The forest and field yield
As the seventh seal is revealed

Before flora and fauna are forgot
Why not strike while the iron is hot
Start to stop to smell the roses
Watch the wildlife striking poses

LYRICS
Did you look in the cook book?
How did your foul/fowl get loose
If they cooked your goose
Then again I reckon
There’s too many cooks in the kitchen

Did you see the recipe
How to prepare holy cow
Is beyond my know-how
Then again I reckon
There’s too many cooks in the kitchen

Did you check the list of ingredients
There are no replacement condiments
In the human experiment
And, again I reckon
There’s too many kooks in the kitchen

LYRICS
The sun beats down upon my brow
I know somehow… must escape now
My head is hot, the skin does burn
I yearn to learn to take the turn
And, wade into the shade
Nature’s aid heat fade
Just a small bit of a respite
A breeze and me under a tree

The sun bears down upon my back
My bare back feels under attack
Humidity is killing thee
Not even clouds shelter me

The sun shines down on all around
No air conditioning to be found
Quick! Before I feel skin peel
Will you help me find the real deal?
Let’s wade into the shade
Nature’s aid heat fade
Just a small bit of a respite
We with a breeze under a tree

LYRICS
The leaves are leaving
As the waves wave
Bye-bye
Ma Nature is grieving
She hates seeing suns die
Mother is screaming,
“Pick up your things!
What’s the matter with those human beings?
Give them an inch, they’ll take the yard
They refuse to yield… took the whole damn field
Come on, Man, life shouldn’t be this hard”

The leaves are leaving
As the waves wave
Bye-bye
Ma Nature is disbelieving
Shakes her head and wonders why?
Mother is screaming,
“Take out your trash!
What’s the matter with those human beings?
Anything they won’t smash?”
Disfigure land and sea temperature
Even error the air… errrah!

LYRICS
You’re getting warm
The situation’s volatile
Lesson to learn
Weather’s getting hostile
Sure is a fine line
To define the shoreline
And, the air we share
Who knows what’s in there?

You’re getting warmer
Didn’t wanna alarm ya
Make the same mistake
Warm until we bake

Atmosphere’s
So think it can smear
A sea change wish
Less plastic then fish

You’re what’s left of fine
Together let’s make time
Aware that we’re both there
To mend the disrepair

ABOUT THE SONG
This song is about the increased volatility in weather causing extreme weather events.

We are not saying that the Earth’s temperature is just going to rise. In general, as energy is added to a system, the fluctuations in the system increase. So, we expect more storms, more droughts, more wildfires, more floods, more fluctuations of all kinds. What we are saying is that weather conditions will become more volatile due to the impact of humans — Brouse & Mukherjee

The song was also inspired by current events including:

bookmark_borderBetting The Farm

LYRICS
Why do we want to make it so we twist and bleed
It’s getting harder and harder to breathe
The day has dawned “beyond so long”
Come to know “you reap, you soooo(-ed)”
Guilt in silence… not even a peep?
Is what we reap “playin’ for keeps”
Did you bet there’s no harm
Betting the farm?

Why have we made hate our destiny
Why have we made hate our legacy
The day has dawned “beyond so long”
Come to know I’m my own worst foe
Now, we’re in too deep
Playing for keep

Made a habit of destroying habitation
A destruction nation in self-annihilation
The day has dawned… so long beyond
We’re all “coming home”, I reckoned
Coming ’round the bend to…

LYRICS
I overheard
It’s a record
Too much sun
Reigns on our fun
When it’s too hot
We can not
This record heat
Is beat
…2,3,4
How much more?

What we got
Is too hot
Getting difficult to endure
Any more temperature
Did you see the mercury
Going up in history
Going down! It’s misery
Absurd record
Invoke heatstroke
Add the absurdity of the humidity
Think you can sweat it?
Forget it!
Can’t compete with record heat
Na ugh-uh na uh-uh
No, can’t compete with the record heat
Na ugh-uh na uh-uh

Am I all alone?
Prone to ozone
Hold the phone…
I’m not alone
Don’t breathe
Grieve
Only way to relieve
don’t breathe!
Hold your breath
’till you turn blue
Hold your breath
It’s all you can do
Tropospheric
Sick, sick, sick
No singing songs
Damage the lungs
Damage prolongs
Swan song sung
In the “Ohh!” zone

ABOUT THE SONG
Q: Do you know what are two of the most dangerous exposures for children and the elderly?
A: Fresh air and sunshine

On days like today, do not go out and play. The sun can damage your skin and cause cancer.

Sunshine is also part of a deadly reaction.  When combined with heat and volatile gases, ultraviolet light causes a deadly reaction by creating  tropospheric ozone.

The dangerous ozone (O3) is created when vehicle (and other) exhaust is not completely combusted. Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the exhaust react to temperature and sunlight creating tropospheric ozone (O3).

The ozone in the air can cause permanent damage to your respiratory and immune systems.

LYRICS
It’s your call
After all, it’s your ball
On the downfall
Going to take it all?
Earth – our great bus
Traveling through the universe
Do you want to get on with the rest of us?

You decide
How far and wide
(How long to ride?)
It’s your choice
Will you raise your voice
Earth – our cosmic train
Wanna get off or wanna remain
Don’t want to fail… don’t want to derail
What the heck? No train wreck!

{interlude}

Earth – meant our movement
How will we spend every moment
Let’s set sail toward prevail
And the ending of a happy fairy tale

Feel it as it flows
Breeze flows past my body
Which way the wind blows

Fresh air pours into my body

Time passes past my body
Watch it as it goes
I appreciate the days
All the different ways
Life wonders amaze

Freedom runs through my spirit
Baptism’s water bears it
Revolution song soothes my soul
Music fills my ear… can you hear it?
Nature’s calling… can you hear her?
Wants to hold us dearer
