Storm of June 23, 2015
Storm of June 23, 2015

LYRICS
Where will the lightning strike
Which way will the wind blow
Stick your finger in the dike
Try and control the flow

In the path of where the storm goes
Why under attack? Nobody knows
Seek shelter immediately
Before you become a casualty
Before they declare you a tragedy

Will we make it through the night
Still be standing at dawn’s daylight
Will comfort overtake fright
Please tell me it’s gonna be alright

LYRICS
After all is said and done
Looks like we’ve come undone
They think we’re choosing extinct

After all we’ve said is dumb
We’ve become the smoking gun
On the verge of the human purge

Chorus
They think we’re choosing extinct
On the verge of the human purge
When the traffic can no longer merge
We can be gone as quick as a blink

After all we did is gone
Too late to wonder what went wrong
They know we choose extinct

After all we’re dead and gone
Culmination of our swan song
The purge of the human splurge

Chorus

The study shows without any significant doubt that we are now entering the sixth great mass extinction event.

LYRICS
The clouds are looking quite threatening
Obviously a storm approaching
Wouldn’t you have to say
The signs are as plain as day

Chorus
Dorthy why aren’t you in the fallout shelter
You ain’t in Kansas… more like Helter Skelter
In a land where you land at the bottom of the slide
Taking man’s best friend along for the ride
Toto, too? Total, too

The circulation of the wind
The severity of the blowin’
Storm tracker has it pinned
Storm warning’s been growin’
Wouldn’t ya have to say it’s as plain as day

ABOUT THE SONG
B G
C D
G C
G C D
D G

A song inspired by global warming and extreme weather events.

We are not saying that the Earth’s temperature is just going to rise. In general, as energy is added to a system, the fluctuations in the system increase. So, we expect more storms, more droughts, more wildfires, more floods, more fluctuations of all kinds. What we are saying is that weather conditions will become more volatile due to the impact of humans. (Extreme Weather Events)

LYRICS
There’s nothing wrong with searching and searching
As long as your researching is educating
Learn something new ’bout every moment
Startled by the movement
Think I surprised you?
You scared the crap out of me, too
But now that I see you’re just havin’ fun
Fawn on the run

There’s a squirrel lookin’ down at us
Thinking “in too bad taste” to be nuts
Had to agree, wink and nod
We should act like animals instead of God
Takin’ in the moment
Startled by the movement
Think I surprised you?
You scared the crap out of me, too
But now that I see you’re just havin’ fun
Fawn on the run

Have you ever been scared of something only to find out there was nothing to fear? Such an instance inspired this song. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving. It was only a few feet from me. I could see it was larger than a rabbit… it was larger than a groundhog. It started stumbling and fumbling right toward me. Then, I recognized it was a fawn. It barely knew how to standup and run away.

Written and recorded at Lake Wynonah, Schuylkill County, PA.

LYRICS
Mother Nature is getting her act together
Looks like we’re in for some extreme weather
Better batten down the hatches
Check the locks and check the latches
The clouds foreshadowing doom
‘less corrective action is taken soon

Better of not fooling with Mother Nature
Just another man-made folly for sure
Amaze with a haze… the lines we blur
Bringing on the rapture is no cure
The clouds foreshadowing doom
‘less corrective action is taken soon

We had better think twice ’bout being nice
Skating on thin ice won’t suffice
Deadline is upon us… time to pay the price
Stork of midnight. Coach to pumpkin. Horses to mice.
The clouds foreshadowing doom
‘less corrective action is taken soon

LYRICS
A fight to the finish
In our fragile space capsule
A race to The End of the human race
Living to diminish
Our fragile space capsule
Modern Age rage flailing in disgrace

Happy birthday (Hey, hey, hey)
Dear ole Earthday (Hey, hey, hey)

Right on!
Get positive on negative ions
May the atmosphere of our sphere
Scatter blue your sky
… and make you feel high

Happy birthday (Hey, hey, hey)
Dear ole Earthday (Hey, hey, hey)

Can you see yourself floating in the sea
I confess the weightlessness is bliss
Crave the rave of riding on a wave

Happy birthday (Hey, hey, hey)
Dear ole Earthday (Hey, hey, hey)

Do you know the feeling of a rainbow
Synesthesia like anesthesia from the dread
Flourish and nourish your head

Happy birthday (Hey, hey, hey)
Dear ole Earthday (Hey, hey, hey)

LYRICS
The bold boy retrieves a toy
Shy lass… tail between ass
You’ve got it there
I think you’ve the instinct of a ratier
Just like that you’ll be tossing a rat

Then comes in the gold-digger
He’s tearing up our past
Too bad his soul can’t grow bigger
’cause his life will pass him by too fast

Tell the truth about
Ferret him out

ABOUT THE SONG
C A
C D A

This song was inspired by the animals of West Chester, PA… including the humans. It started when a terrier started going crazy on this toy. I was just sitting on the Court House wall writing a song, and a dog started going wild. It turns out it wasn’t a toy. It was a rat.

Ratiers are a type of dog specifically bred to flush-out rats.

The second verse is about a guy going through a public park with a metal detector.

LYRICS
Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When it’s snowing in Spring
And there’s no birdies to sing
(All the while the solar eclipse supermoon equinox rocks)

Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When the East Coast is freezing
And the West Coast is frying
(Expressing some sort-a bi-polar polar express)

Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When California is drying
As the Texans weather flooding
(SXSW prepares for the test)

Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When the sun is shinning
While cloudless rain ‘s a fallin’

LYRICS
Ozone in the air we’re breathing
It’s death defying!
Alone in perceiving
These acts are death defying?

More dangerous for us
Than tightrope walking
Or chainsaw juggling

The pathogens we are drinking
It’s death defying!
Alone in perceiving
These acts are death defying?

More dangerous for us
Than sword swallowing
Or cliff diving

The temperature we’re increasing
….
More dangerous for us
Than mine sweeping
Or racecar driving

The glaciers we’re melting
….
More dangerous for us
Than base jumping
Or atomic bombing

More dangerous for us?
There’s nothing more dangerous than us

Non-lexical vocables in music

Non-lexical vocables, which may be mixed with meaningful text, are a form of nonsense syllable used in a wide variety of music. A common English example would be “la la la”.

Non-lexical vocables are used in Blackfoot music and other Native American music, Pygmy music, the music of the Maldives and Irish Music, Highland Scots music. Vocables frequently act as formal markers, indicating the beginning and end of phrases, sections or songs themselves, and also as onomatopoeic references, cueing devices, and other purposes. — Wikipedia
