ABOUT THE SONG — Trump’s Record:

  1. Been implicated in pedophilia and sexual misconduct allegations. The Epstein files are being withheld by Donald Trump—that’s not an accusation, it’s a fact. Trump himself admitted that Epstein “stole” his underaged massage girl from Mar-a-Lago, and his relationship with Epstein is well documented.
  2. Repeatedly denied science—on climate change, on public health, and on issues with life-or-death consequences.
  3. Lied pathologically about everything from crowd sizes to election results.
  4. Promoted white supremacy and emboldened racially charged violence.
  5. Been found liable for sexual assault in civil court.
  6. Stoked division through bigotry, bullying, and fear-based politics.
  7. Stood by as the U.S. Capitol was attacked, later praising or pardoning those responsible.
  8. Attempted to overturn a lawful election, undermining democracy itself.
  9. Engaged in financial fraud, including a judgment for falsifying business records.
  10. Misused charity funds, leading to a lifetime ban from operating a charitable foundation in New York.
  11. Implemented family separation policies at the border, losing track of children in the process.
  12. Attacked the independence of the Federal Reserve, destabilizing global markets.
  13. Attacked the First Amendment going so far as to threaten any television network critical of him.
  14. Exploded the national debt by trillions while handing tax cuts to billionaires, worsening inequality.
  15. Tried to weaponize the Justice Department as his personal shield and sword.
  16. Floated the idea of “suspending” the Constitution to stay in power.
  17. Been convicted of falsifying business records to hide damaging information from voters before an election.

The real question is: who, knowing all of this, still chooses to support or defend such behavior?

ABOUT THE SONG
At seventeen, I was a freshman studying economics at West Chester University. At the time, the national debt of the United States was $827 billion. In a course on fiscal spending and debt, we discussed how short-term political interests are difficult to account for in economics. I suggested that anyone authorizing government spending should be required to physically count each dollar before it could be spent. This would ensure that a politician would spend the rest of their life counting the money—long before they could ever spend it. (If you counted eight hours a day, seven days a week, it would take roughly 190 years to reach 1 billion.)

In August of 2025, the US federal debt is 37 trillion dollars. In January 2020, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that gross federal debt would not surpass $37 trillion until after fiscal year 2030.

1. Weight of $37 trillion in $1 bills

  • A single U.S. $1 bill weighs about 1 gram.

  • There are 1,000,000,000,000,000 / 1 = 37,000,000,000,000 bills. Wait—we should calculate carefully:

Step 1: Number of $1 bills in $37 trillion:

37 trillion dollars=37×1012 dollars37\,\text{trillion dollars} = 37 \times 10^{12} \text{ dollars}

So there are 37 trillion $1 bills.

Step 2: Total weight:

37,000,000,000,000 bills×1 gram per bill=37,000,000,000,000 grams37,000,000,000,000\text{ bills} \times 1\text{ gram per bill} = 37,000,000,000,000\text{ grams}

Convert grams to metric tons:

37,000,000,000,000 g÷1,000,000 g/ton=37,000,000 tons37,000,000,000,000 \text{ g} \div 1,000,000 \text{ g/ton} = 37,000,000 \text{ tons}

That’s 37 million metric tons—roughly the weight of all the cars in the U.S. several times over, or about 8 times the Great Pyramid of Giza in weight.

2. How far $37 trillion in $1 bills would circle the Earth

  • A U.S. $1 bill is about 0.156 meters long.

  • Total length:

37,000,000,000,000 bills×0.156 m=5,772,000,000,000 m37,000,000,000,000 \text{ bills} \times 0.156\text{ m} = 5,772,000,000,000\text{ m}

Convert to kilometers:

5,772,000,000,000 m÷1,000=5,772,000 km5,772,000,000,000 \text{ m} \div 1,000 = 5,772,000 \text{ km}

  • Circumference of the Earth ≈ 40,075 km.

5,772,000 km÷40,075≈144 times around the Earth!5,772,000 \text{ km} \div 40,075 \approx 144 \text{ times around the Earth!}

Stacking $37 trillion in $1 bills end to end would circle the Earth 144 times.

3. Time to count $37 trillion in $1 bills

  • Assume a person counts 1 bill per second continuously.

  • Seconds in a year ≈ 31,536,000.

Step 1: Number of seconds needed:

37,000,000,000,000 bills÷1 bill/sec=37,000,000,000,000 sec37,000,000,000,000 \text{ bills} \div 1 \text{ bill/sec} = 37,000,000,000,000 \text{ sec}

Step 2: Convert to years:

37,000,000,000,000÷31,536,000≈1,173,000 years37,000,000,000,000 \div 31,536,000 \approx 1,173,000 \text{ years}

At 1 bill per second, it would take over 1.17 million years to count $37 trillion!

4. Height of $37 Trillion in $1 Bills

  • Thickness of a U.S. $1 bill ≈ 0.11 mm (0.00011 meters).

  • Total height if stacked:

37,000,000,000,000 bills×0.00011 m/bill=4,070,000,000 meters37,000,000,000,000 \text{ bills} \times 0.00011 \text{ m/bill} = 4,070,000,000 \text{ meters}

  • Convert to kilometers:

4,070,000,000 m÷1,000=4,070 km4,070,000,000 \text{ m} \div 1,000 = 4,070 \text{ km}

That’s over 4,000 km tall, which is more than five times the cruising altitude of a commercial airplane (about 10 km), and ten times the height of Mount Everest (8.85 km).

  • Another way to visualize it: a stack this high would extend from the Earth’s surface through the stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and into low Earth orbit, almost reaching satellites in orbit!

You could use phrases like:
“Fi staat fi si di ting dem” – “Starting to see the things” (implying things are becoming clearer)
“Di ting dem a show demself” – “The things are showing themselves” (suggesting the evidence is becoming apparent)
“Mi a get di hint” – “I’m getting the hint” (using the English word “hint” but with Jamaican pronunciation)

ABOUT THE SONG

The song “If It Pays” is a searing indictment of the Trump presidency, portraying it as a chaotic, self-serving enterprise where ego and short-term gain trump ethics, strategy, or long-term vision. Set against the backdrop of economic disruption caused by impulsive tariffs and “America First” nationalism, the song explores how narcissistic leadership tears at the social and economic fabric—both domestically and globally.

Interpretation of “If It Pays”

Verse 1:
“Egocentrical / Hierarchical / Stacked on top of me (Me, me, me!)” opens with a biting portrayal of Trump’s authoritarian persona. The repetition of “me” mocks his self-obsession and absolute focus on personal gain, status, and control. The “hierarchical” nature of his leadership implies a top-down system designed to elevate himself while pressing others down—echoing the growing wealth gap and abuse of executive power during his presidency.

Chorus:
“Watching as all frays / You can still hear him say / Who cares… If it pays” captures the callousness of policies driven not by principle but by profit and vanity. It critiques Trump’s transactional worldview—whether it’s family separations at the border, environmental rollbacks, or global trade wars, the guiding logic is simple: “Does it benefit me or my base right now?”
“Only living for the day” reflects the short-termism that defined much of his decision-making—particularly the reckless implementation of tariffs without regard for long-term economic stability or international diplomacy.

Bridge (Instrumental + Word Pairings):
The instrumental break underscores growing instability, layered with sharp, symbolic word pairings:

  • “Narcissism (nation)” links personal pathology to national identity—Trump’s ego becomes a political doctrine.

  • “Skepticism (schism)” points to the deliberate sowing of doubt—of science, media, elections—creating deep societal divisions.

  • “Alienation (nation)” highlights the result: an America isolated on the world stage and internally fractured. These three words—narcissism, skepticism, alienation—summarize the spiritual and civic degradation of the Trump era.

Verse 2:
“Self-centered / End age entered / Autonomy (Me, me, me!)” continues the psychological dissection. “End age” could allude to a perceived end of American democratic norms or global leadership—ushered in by a president who sees autonomy not as a right of the people, but as his own unchecked authority.

Final Chorus and Outro:
The repeated chorus and outro drive home the central theme: we are witnessing unraveling—“watching as all frays”—yet the man responsible remains unmoved, repeating the nihilistic mantra: “Who cares… if it pays.” The closing chants—narcissism, skepticism, alienation—echo like warning sirens, inviting the listener to reflect on what has been lost.

Summary:

“If It Pays” is a razor-sharp critique of Trumpism: a philosophy rooted in ego, greed, and short-term gratification. The song links destructive tariff policies and economic nationalism to a broader collapse of accountability, decency, and foresight. It’s not just about trade—it’s about the corrosion of a nation’s soul, sold off piece by piece, as long as someone got paid.

Ignoring all our ways
… does it even phase?

[Outro]
In a haze
(The End of Days)

ABOUT THE SONG

The song “A Haze” is a poetic, haunting reflection on the climate crisis and the global wildfire epidemic, drawing a literal picture of a planet shrouded in smoke while also offering a deeper figurative critique of human apathy, hubris, and denial.

Literal Interpretation – Wildfires and Climate Crisis

[Verse 1]

The setting of a fire / (The setting of the sun)
The dual imagery reflects the literal ignition of wildfires—either by nature or by humans—and how these fires now coincide with the symbolic “setting” or decline of the natural world. The sun setting also hints at smoke-darkened skies and days lost to haze.

Our desire fuels us higher / (Until one has come undone)
This references human overconsumption and the carbon economy, which drive climate change and intensify fire seasons. “Undone” signals collapse—of ecosystems, lives, and climate stability.

[Chorus]

The world set ablaze / Does it cease to amaze
A literal vision of wildfires ravaging continents (California, Australia, Canada). “Does it amaze?” asks: Why are we still shocked? Or worse—are we no longer shocked at all?

Ignoring all our ways / … does it even phase?
Despite knowing the causes—deforestation, fossil fuels, unchecked development—we remain largely indifferent. “Does it even phase?” challenges our emotional numbness and political inaction.

[Bridge]

In a haze / (Day to days) / The color fades / (Smoke’s gray shades)
This paints the visual and psychological toll of wildfire smoke—days blur, skies turn gray, colors and clarity disappear. The literal haze mirrors the mental fog of denial and helplessness that climate disruption brings.

Figurative Interpretation – Psychological & Moral Decay

[Verse 2]

Perpetuates and exacerbates / (Destined to set fates)
Our actions don’t just continue the crisis—they accelerate it. “Set fates” implies that we are writing a tragic future with full awareness, yet still failing to change.

Our desire fuels us higher / (For fun we light it on fire)
This line critiques the reckless, profit-driven motives behind carbon-heavy lifestyles and industries. “For fun” could also refer to luxury, consumption, and carelessness, as if Earth is burning for our amusement.

[Bridge & Chorus Refrain]

The repetition of “In a haze” and “set ablaze” emphasizes both environmental degradation and societal blindness. We’re living through catastrophe, but still carry on “day to days” as if nothing’s changed.

Outro – The Final Warning

In a haze / (The End of Days)
The final words bring the full weight of apocalypse. The haze becomes symbolic of collapse, extinction, and judgment. The climate crisis is no longer abstract—it’s here, and it’s terminal if we don’t act.

Summary:

“A Haze” is a stunning dual metaphor for both wildfires and the psychological smoke-screen we’ve built to avoid confronting our role in planetary collapse. It blends ecological horror with moral introspection, asking:

  • Why do we continue down this path when we see the world burning?

  • Have we become desensitized to destruction?

  • Can we still see clearly—or are we lost in the haze?

It’s a song of reckoning—a smoldering elegy wrapped in ash, asking us if we’ll ever wake up before it’s too late.

[Verse 1]
Under the command (of man)
The commander in chief
Offers no relief (just grief)
From what I can understand
(He can’t command)

[Bridge]
Oh (no!) He doesn’t understand

[Chorus]
So our going gets tough
As he makes it rough
Uncle! (Sam) We’ve had enough
(Oh) Please let go
(Set me free! Let us be!)

[Verse 2]
The damned do demand
The commander in chief
Remove faith in belief
(Oh) The message they send…
They can’t comprehend
Bringing on The End

[Bridge]
Oh (no!) Man doesn’t understand

[Chorus]
So our going gets tough
As he makes it rough
Uncle! (Sam) We’ve had enough
(Oh) Please let go
(Set me free! Let us be!)

[Outro]
Oh (no!) Man doesn’t understand
They can’t comprehend
Bringing on The End

ABOUT THE SONG

  • Verse 1 (“Under the command of man,” “commander in chief offers no relief”) suggests that while Trump holds the title of Commander in Chief, he provides no real leadership, comfort, or solutions — only grief and hardship. The line “He can’t command” underlines a view that he lacks the ability or competence needed for serious leadership.

  • Bridge (“Oh no! He doesn’t understand”) bluntly states that Trump does not grasp the gravity or complexity of his responsibilities, leaving the country rudderless.

  • Chorus (“our going gets tough as he makes it rough,” “Uncle Sam, we’ve had enough”) captures a sense of national exhaustion — the harder things get for Americans, the more Trump’s actions exacerbate the suffering. The call to “let go” and “set me free” reflects a desperate public desire to break free from his control and failures.

  • Verse 2 (“the damned do demand,” “remove faith in belief”) implies that Trump’s leadership is so corrosive that it leads people to lose faith not just in him, but in the very institutions and ideals he represents. The “message they send” — though urgent — “can’t comprehend” the full consequences of their own actions, meaning both Trump and his supporters may be unknowingly hastening national decline.

  • Bridge and Outro (“bringing on The End”) reinforce that Trump’s inability to understand or lead is portrayed as not just damaging — but potentially apocalyptic, accelerating America’s collapse.
