LYRICS
We’ve been straying a ways
From our better days
On a path of destruction
Evolution dysfunction
Mating with Neanderthal
Going to lead to our fall
Take on the shape
Of crawling back to the ape
And at this rate (And at this rate)
Approaching our expiration date
And at this rate (And at this rate)
Casting our destiny’s fate
We’ve been straying a ways
From our better days
On a path to damnation
Eternal dysfunction
Any orgy of imps
Resembling chimps
Squirting demons’ seaman
On the Succubus in all of us
A verse inspired by the wildfires in Chile burning in the forests of 1,000 old puzzle monkey trees. (At least the government of Chile recognizes it as the effects of human induced climate change.) Another verse is inspired by the ISIS destruction of ancient artifacts in Syria using sledgehammers and bulldozers. I guess you could say the song is about human induced destruction of everything.
Araucaria araucana — commonly called the monkey puzzle tree
The origin of the popular English language name ‘monkey puzzle’ derives from its early cultivation in Britain in about 1850, when the species was still very rare in gardens and not widely known. Sir William Molesworth, the proud owner of a young specimen at Pencarrow garden near Bodmin in Cornwall was showing it to a group of friends, one of them – the noted barrister and Benthamist Charles Austin remarked, “It would puzzle a monkey to climb that”. [Because it takes a 1,000 years for them to grow, young specimens are tiny.] As the species had no existing popular name, first ‘monkey puzzler’, then ‘monkey puzzle’ stuck. — Wikipedia
LYRICS
When you’re sick and tired… you can’t take anymore
When the thick and thin… you just can’t endure
Look above for some love
(Genesis 2:1)
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts.
Raise your voice and praise the choice to instill your freewill
Though, not in boasts… rather joy for the holy ghost
(Luke 10:30)
Persecuted and wronged for doing what’s right
Dread being stripped naked, beaten, and left half dead
Find insight in the light
(Hebrews 6:4)
Once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift — uplift
Partake of the Holy Spirit and taste the powers of the age to come
Riches beyond your wildest dreams and then some
(Jude 1:21)
Keep yourselves in the love as you wait for the mercy
The light will shine… shine o’ so fine… you shall see
It’ll work out fine… be heavenly
(Daniel 6:27)
Delivered and rescued I see signs and wonders in heaven and on earth
Under threat of alarms and sirens, delivered Daniel from the power of the lions
Now is the hour of rebirth
LYRICS
Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When it’s snowing in Spring
And there’s no birdies to sing
(All the while the solar eclipse supermoon equinox rocks)
Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When the East Coast is freezing
And the West Coast is frying
(Expressing some sort-a bi-polar polar express)
Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When California is drying
As the Texans weather flooding
(SXSW prepares for the test)
Isn’t it just the strangest thing
When the sun is shinning
While cloudless rain ‘s a fallin’
(Enough cosmic flow to bring on a rainbow)
