Writing the Song Super Natural Hero

LYRICS
I’ve been using gravity to make do
Since before I was two
Oh, yeah… and, I’ve been using friction, too
To save me from the mountain dew
Soooooo
There’s quite a bit you can do
A super, natural hero

Roll with the role of the magnetic pole
An attraction to you
Or, maybe you want to try and repel
You can do it just as well
The solution once you are in motion
Just add a little of your friction
No fool… you’ve got fuel and oxygen
Now, we’re on fire once again
Soooooo
There’s quite a bit you can do
A super, natural hero

Songwriting In The Cascades, BIacksburg, Virginia

LYRICS
The quite chill of an autumn morning
The lichen might consider quite trite
But, the human glare finds it worthwhile to stare
As the fluid cascades amongst the solid
The sunlight cascades over the mountain top
Spilling colors of every hue

Any man must stop to ponder what it is we did
Every man must stop to wonder the wonder if we stop
Look what progress did to the fish
Look what our standard of living has lost
Look what it is we do
Maybe we should be careful for what we wish
Open our eyes. Open our ears. Heed the warning…
Before the waterfalls fall

LYRICS
When we started to count, we went from 0 to 1
By the way, this was way, way back in the day
Then in the modern day, we found a way
To make music play
Putting bits and bytes to websites
In binary… in fact, back to the very…
0’s and 1’s

Come in from the cold
It’s the new old
Just when you thought out was sold
Come in for some new old

[I can’t get no satisfaction. She’s a daytripper, yeah!]

Can you see
Paper comes from a tree
Moses’ new commandments were carved in some very old stone
Our new condiments were made from mature… more than an instance
Even the telephone, TV and computer come from regurgitated ideas
So, before making a stance…
On creativity…
Before raising fears
Let’s see how much original
Is left in us all

Besides, a zero isn’t much of anything
Let’s try something new… invigorating

If you’re gonna pray, you might as well say
“I pray that I get it right!”
If you’re gonna say you might as well pray

Better pray, better pray all through the night
Better pray, better pray all through the day
Better pray as I work at working it into my work
Better pray as I work at working at what I play

LYRICS
I think I
I think I am
I think I can begin

I think it’s time to think
Crawl out from undercover
Crack a smile and wink
True love can never smother
Hug another like your lover
Hug another like your mother
Hug another

Smile, nod… or just say “hi” as they’re passing by
It’s not outrageous for something good to be contagious

Do my part
To start a heart
Let the hate depart

Ya know hate’s got to go
Pack his bag and stow
On the last train to “I don’t know”

LYRICS
What do I believe in?
I believe in the freedom of speech
That let’s me speak my mind
My right to point out someone viscous, savage… or kind
I believe in the freedom to believe in religion
Or the those that choose no diving discipline
My God!
Believin’ in believing in believing

I believe I can walk the walk
Given the freedom to talk, talk, talk
I don’t believe a bit in being a hypocrite
I do believe we should teach the children this bit

LYRICS
Though there’s cheaters and creepers here
I hope the music cuts through the fear
May it bring you comfort and joy
Way more than some wrapped [rapped] toy

Though there’s fakes and non-believers here
I hope the music cuts through their shit
Brings you comfort… at least a bit
Way more than some stuffed bear
Brings the comfort from here to there

Though there’s sleepers and beaters here
I hope the music extinguishes the fear
May it bring you comfort and joy
Way more than some wrapped toy
Whistles and bells set to annoy
May the music bring you comfort and joy
May it bring you comfort and joy

LYRICS
How can we achieve flight
if we hold on too tight
The trick is getting to know
When to let go

When there’s not a human to be found
The world will still be spinning round
When there’s not a sole left in sight
Nature’s there to nurture curve

Don’t be made a fool. Make a sound.
Let those fools all be hellbound
There’s still you and me to set things right
Nature’s there to nurture. We’re sure.

LYRICS
When at last you are comfortable
Than, at last, you’re at home
When at last you are salvageable
Then, at last, you are not alone

When at last you’re forgiven
By yourself, set free for livin’
Then, at last, you’ve awaken
In your true home

With a twist of love
Sprinkled down from above
Feeling free to let yourself go
Flying high to the place of know

Have some… please have some home

With a twist of love
Shaken not broken

LYRICS
They set out for 3 hours
Sort-of short for seaborne tours
They set out for 3 hours
Ended up with a lifetime of horrors
Such is the fate (of Gilligan)
Such is the fate (of Mary Ann)

If I’m stranded on an island with you
Don’t know what I’d do
I’d leave that part up to you
Maybe distill a ‘lil gin
Then
Let the dancing begin
All the while playing our hearts away
Making beautiful music all night and day

Youth be gold. We’d never grow old.
Just for fun
Maybe distill a ‘lil rum
Maintaining a dance continuum

You’re as old as you feel
And, I am
Unconceal the real deal
Live life while you can

Naked. Swinging from trees.
Begging God we please

ABOUT THIS SONG
Capo 2

Written and recorded on August 1, 2012 in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Daniel — Guitar, Vocals

The song has to do with my ancestors, King Duncan of Scotland and the Armstrongs. One side of my family is related to King Duncan. He was murdered. The other side of my family cut down trees making it look like the forest was storming the castle in revenge of the murder (as described in Shakespeare’s Macbeth: Act V. Scene III.) The clan was named Armstrong and given a coat-of-arms symbolizing the event.
