LYRICS
I’m screaming in a vacuum
Can’t get any traction
If my words had some friction
Might get through the diction

How come?
I’m screaming in a vacuum

I’m screaming in a vacuum
“I love you!”
However, the message isn’t getting through
Is there nothing I can do
To get through
I love you?

Can you read my lips?
Wish I had stirrups
Are your ears growing turnips?

I’m screaming in a vacuum
Can’t get any traction
Words need friction

Pull Out! Get High! .mp3

LYRICS
Though it’s usually not what you want to do
Take two steps back
To try to move ahead
Try to get some gain
Try to remain sane
In life’s game
Sometimes
It’s the perspective
That can be interjective
To your thought process
Pull back
For a different point-of-view
Shooting yourself into space
See the morning dew
From way, way, way beyond
Then come back in again
Get way up close
So you can feel the dew upon you
Then, retrace

Moving forward is good
Way better than sitting still
But, better, better still
Use your will
After all, it’s free you know
Your freewill
Use it as some sort-of pill
To get high
Get higher, higher, higher
So, you can see all there is
See all there is to see
From here to eternity
You can be part of it, too
If you really want to

1,2,3
4,5,6
Let’s pick up the sticks
7,8
Lay ’em straight
Then, roll the dice
Ahhh… do it twice

Writing the song Oh! Susanna Part 2

LYRICS
It rained all night the day I left
The it was dry
And, we all go marching
Down into the ground
To get out of the rain

When January feels like June
Wake up! Wake up! And, none too soon
And we all go searching
Everywhere all around
To get our of the rain

Oh! Susanna
Won’t you cry for me
Oh! Susanna
All can surely see
Oh! Susanna
It’s a tragedy

Oh! Susanna Part 2.mp3

ABOUT THE SONG
Chords — Capo 1
C Am
G Am

Written and recorded on January 12, 2013 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania as a digital, 4-track stereo, extemporaneous recording. After posting this status on Facebook, the song was written and recorded on the streets: “Hmmm… 60 degrees in January… perfect day to take music to the streets… maybe write a global warming song?”

It started while I was sleeping… I heard a news report about severe weather being the new normal. Then, I started hearing a mix of the Stephen Foster song Oh! Susanna and the children’s version of Johnny Comes Marching Home known as The Ants Go Marching (and a dash if You Are My Sunshine)… kind-of tossing traditional irony with a modern day twist.

LYRICS
From here to there
And, anywhere in between
A gypsy of body… a lover of being

Spirit comes apart
Soul comes together
There’s a certain science or art
To being a gypsy body
And, a lover of being

From here to there
And, anywhere in between

Thank you your Grace
For allowing me to embrace
This form
This warm form

From here to there
And, everywhere in between

LYRICS
Getting together on a weekday night
Going to make some music
It’ll be alright

Joining in a rock-and-roll band

Getting together in a basement
Making music that just won’t quit
… and, relevant

Joining in a rock-and-roll band

Getting together spirits groove
Going to make ’em move
Maybe outta hand

Jamming in a rock-and-roll band
