Devilish Whirling Dervish.mp3

LYRICS

Whirling. Twirling. Spinning ever faster
Whipping yourself into a euphoric state
Going round and round and round
Hoping religion will be found

Hiding. Hunting. Hoping for an Easter
Praying resurrection is your fate

Devilish Whirling Dervish
Religious ecstasy
Devilish Whirling Dervish
Touching divinity

Make the whirling yours
Make the whirling mine
Create the whirling epiphany
Make the whirling divine

ABOUT THE SONG
Chords — Am C

Written and recorded on January 15, 2013 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania as a digital, 6-track stereo, extemporaneous recording.

The Mawlaw’īyya / Mevlevi Order, or the Mevlevilik / Mevleviye (Persian: مولويه‎ – Molavīyeh) is a Sufi order founded in Konya (present-day Turkey) by the followers of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, a 13th-century Persian poet, Islamic jurist, and theologian. They are also known as the Whirling Dervishes due to their famous practice of whirling as a form of dhikr (remembrance of God).

The Mawlawi believe in performing their dhikr in the form of a “dance” and musical ceremony known as the Sama, which involves the whirling, from which the order acquired its nickname. The Sema represents a mystical journey of man’s spiritual ascent through mind and love to the “Perfect”. Turning towards the truth, the follower grows through love, deserts his ego, finds the truth, and arrives at the “Perfect”. He then returns from this spiritual journey as a man who has reached maturity and a greater perfection, able to love and to be of service to the whole of creation.

LYRICS
Rest In Peace

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Who me? I don’t want to ever grow up

I don’t want to be old

Why would you want to grow old
Why would you want to grow mold
Why would you want to do what you’re told
Why would you want to grow old

You can grow old
You can grow mold
You can rot
You can rust
But, I say “Not”

LYRICS
The little hand
And, the big hand
Take command
(Of moving time forward)

CHORUS:
What do you do
When it’s either
“I have too many”
Or, “I have too few”

The sun dial…
Hourglass sand
Understand
(As we move toward)

Chorus

Have to develop my style
It appears to be worth the bother
No? No bother?
We’ve got time aplenty

LYRICS
Snake Handling Immortal Tongue Speakers

Handle snakes
Speak in tongues
Climb the ladder
To the highest rung
Then, take that leap
Leap

Da, da, da, de, da
Jah jah jah jah
We’re speaking in tongues
Handling snakes
Whatever it takes
To get to know
To get to show

Kabbalah

The message is one
The message is won

Handle snakes
Speak in tongues
Do whatever comes
To get the message out
To get the message in
To get the message through to you

First, take in
Then, chew
The parts we can spew
And, hope to get the message through

Snake Handling Immortal Tongue Speakers
We are the seekers

LYRICS
I’m screaming in a vacuum
Can’t get any traction
If my words had some friction
Might get through the diction

How come?
I’m screaming in a vacuum

I’m screaming in a vacuum
“I love you!”
However, the message isn’t getting through
Is there nothing I can do
To get through
I love you?

Can you read my lips?
Wish I had stirrups
Are your ears growing turnips?

I’m screaming in a vacuum
Can’t get any traction
Words need friction

Pull Out! Get High! .mp3

LYRICS
Though it’s usually not what you want to do
Take two steps back
To try to move ahead
Try to get some gain
Try to remain sane
In life’s game
Sometimes
It’s the perspective
That can be interjective
To your thought process
Pull back
For a different point-of-view
Shooting yourself into space
See the morning dew
From way, way, way beyond
Then come back in again
Get way up close
So you can feel the dew upon you
Then, retrace

Moving forward is good
Way better than sitting still
But, better, better still
Use your will
After all, it’s free you know
Your freewill
Use it as some sort-of pill
To get high
Get higher, higher, higher
So, you can see all there is
See all there is to see
From here to eternity
You can be part of it, too
If you really want to

1,2,3
4,5,6
Let’s pick up the sticks
7,8
Lay ’em straight
Then, roll the dice
Ahhh… do it twice
