Pull Out! Get High! .mp3

LYRICS
Though it’s usually not what you want to do
Take two steps back
To try to move ahead
Try to get some gain
Try to remain sane
In life’s game
Sometimes
It’s the perspective
That can be interjective
To your thought process
Pull back
For a different point-of-view
Shooting yourself into space
See the morning dew
From way, way, way beyond
Then come back in again
Get way up close
So you can feel the dew upon you
Then, retrace

Moving forward is good
Way better than sitting still
But, better, better still
Use your will
After all, it’s free you know
Your freewill
Use it as some sort-of pill
To get high
Get higher, higher, higher
So, you can see all there is
See all there is to see
From here to eternity
You can be part of it, too
If you really want to

1,2,3
4,5,6
Let’s pick up the sticks
7,8
Lay ’em straight
Then, roll the dice
Ahhh… do it twice

Writing the song Oh! Susanna Part 2

LYRICS
It rained all night the day I left
The it was dry
And, we all go marching
Down into the ground
To get out of the rain

When January feels like June
Wake up! Wake up! And, none too soon
And we all go searching
Everywhere all around
To get our of the rain

Oh! Susanna
Won’t you cry for me
Oh! Susanna
All can surely see
Oh! Susanna
It’s a tragedy

ABOUT THE SONG
Chords — Capo 1
C Am
G Am

Written and recorded on January 12, 2013 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania as a digital, 4-track stereo, extemporaneous recording. After posting this status on Facebook, the song was written and recorded on the streets: “Hmmm… 60 degrees in January… perfect day to take music to the streets… maybe write a global warming song?”

It started while I was sleeping… I heard a news report about severe weather being the new normal. Then, I started hearing a mix of the Stephen Foster song Oh! Susanna and the children’s version of Johnny Comes Marching Home known as The Ants Go Marching (and a dash if You Are My Sunshine)… kind-of tossing traditional irony with a modern day twist.

LYRICS
From here to there
And, anywhere in between
A gypsy of body… a lover of being

Spirit comes apart
Soul comes together
There’s a certain science or art
To being a gypsy body
And, a lover of being

From here to there
And, anywhere in between

Thank you your Grace
For allowing me to embrace
This form
This warm form

From here to there
And, everywhere in between

LYRICS
Waiting with baited breath
We try to narrow the width… the breadth
We’re waiting in anticipation

Time and space alienation
As we close the gap
Even if it’s required to run the extra lap
You know that you can break through
You know it’s something you can do
And, I’m waiting with anticipation

The strangulation of time
Time strangulation
Waiting in anticipation
It’s growing shorter
It’s almost here
You know you can see your way clear
See your way clear
Waiting… not for long
Come on, sing along… waiting with anticipation

You’re the one
When the waiting is done
You’re the winner

LYRICS
You know you took it too far
Right when you crossed the line
From my point-of-view — bizarre

No, it wasn’t the first time
It wasn’t the second time
It wasn’t even 3 strikes you’re out

Wrong and right
Is black and white

You don’t need a moral compass
To prove you’re an ass
This was no seventh inning stretch
You just caused a total train wreck

An itching energy
That’s busting, busting, busting out to be

LYRICS
Do you thirst to see blood?
Do you like to see people dragged through the mud?
Lordess Of Darkness
I suppose you’re your own curse

You weren’t quite fortunate enough
To be fetched by a hearse
You’re just a living zombie
A shell of a body
Foul
You’ve got no soul
You’re the Lordess Of Darkness
I suppose you’re your own curse

Lordess Of Darkness

With all your previous lives
You’d think you’d realize
Lordess Of Darkness
I suppose you’re your own curse

LYRICS
Hummina hummina hummina
If someone comes up to you on the street
And, tries to give you some discrete… or less than discrete
Tries to give a piece concrete
Evidence
Which is summed up with the hummina hummina hummina
My suggestion
Run
Or, if you want to have some fun
Go ahead and engage
Ask about rosemary and sage

If you are going to rise and ride the tide
You don’t want to feel like you’re being swept away
You want to feel like you have some kind-of control over the day
No hummina hummina hummina along the way
Trying not to say hummina hummina hummina

If you are more interested in knowing the great unknown
Please let your presence be known

I did now don’t

Why can’t you just remember what this song is about?

I was just getting ready to lay down the track
When my stomach had this sort-of weird attack
By the time I got back
My memory was at a lack

That’s why I can’t remember what this song is about
I did now I don’t

It was right there
On the tip-of-my-tongue

It was right there

Why can’t I remember what this song is about
I did… now, don’t

LYRICS
Comings and goings
The comings and goings
They say you’re here
They say you’re everywhere

That you’re aware of everything
That you’re there
That you’re in everything
The comings and the goings
They say you’re here
They say you’re everywhere

You are comforting
In all that you bring
You’re comforting
The comings and the goings
They say you’re here
They say you’re everywhere

That when I sing of things you bring
You bring to be me a special thing
The comings and the goings
They say you’re here
They say you’re everywhere

They say you’re with us everywhere

There’s one thing I hope I can convey
There’s one thing I’d convey if I may
There’s only the one thing
That can take you from here
To everywhere
That can take you from here
So you’re everywhere

And, that would be
God Almighty
Then, you can see
To eternity

Your being can be in everywhere
