LYRICS
My, oh, my
Do you ask the sky
Why do I bother to try?
My, oh, my
As you wonder why
Does the day pass you by?
Ask the sky above
To shine the light on love

To shine the light on love
Align my sight on love

By and by
Look to the sky
Try n’ find the answer to why
By and by
Ponder do or die
And put forth our best try
Ask the sky above
To shine the light on love

Ask the sky above
To shine the light on love
Take to new heights
Rising insights
Era of white knights
Hidden delights
To shine the light on love
Align my sight on love
To shine the light on love
Align my sight on love

LYRICS
Jumping up
Bound to come down
Tipping cup
Spilling around
Can’t get blood from a stone
Can’t live on bread alone
Amazing we can survive
Staying alive

Heating up
Won’t come down
Tipping cup
Spoiling around
Can’t get blood from a stone
Can’t live on bread alone
Amazing we can survive
Staying alive

Coming up
A let down
Tipping cup
Foiling our round
Can’t get blood from a stone
Can’t live on bread alone
Amazing we can survive
Staying alive

Tipping points and feedback loops are parts of an equation that determine the rate of acceleration in climate change.

What Are Tipping Points?

Push a glass toward the edge of table and eventually it will fall off on its own. No matter how slowly or meticulously you push… no matter how you weight or fill the glass, it will reach a tipping point and fall off before being pushed completely off the table.

No matter whether you believe the glass is half-empty or half full, when the tipping point is reached it will plummet out-of-control to its end. This is science not fate, faith, nor belief.

Human induced climate change has resulted in environmental tipping points being breached.

I’m thinking of something
But I can’t think of what it is
It’ll amount to nothing
“Goodbye. Blow me a kiss.”

The tip of my tongue
Has come undone
Broke my lip
On a Freudian slip
Slip, trip, flip
My mouth said
Slip, trip, flip
On it’s head
Till the heart led

The tip of my tongue
Has come undone
Broke my lip
On a Freudian slip
Slip, trip, flip
The answer my friend
Has to do with where we’ve been
The answer my friend
Is in The End

n 2023, we wrote about having crossed tipping points in the paper, “Climate Change: How Long Is ‘Ever’?“. When we wrote the Tunnel Under Thesis in 1995, we forecast crossing these tipping points would not happen for centuries. We underestimated Man’s ignorance and arrogance. Fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions have continued to set record highs. Humans have caused chain-reactions resulting in domino-effects, snowball effects, and feedback loops.

Aren’t you reaching?
Touch the sky
All done preaching
Next to die?
Take warning
The warming
Is boiling
The price of procrastinating
Hesitating
Debating… endless debating
About our jumping
The habitat
Has turned scalding
Imagine that?

Debating… endless debating
Mental masturbating
About our jumping

Imagine that?
The frog said
You’re pulling my leg
Cooked?

About dead
Ain’t pulling your leg
Too late to beg
Cooked, cracked, croaked
Cooked
The End of the Book

“The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly.” — Wikipedia

“The era of global warming has ended and the era of ‘global boiling’ has arrived. Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning”, UN secretary general, António Guterres, said after scientists confirmed July 2023 was on track to be the world’s hottest month on record.

LYRICS
The air pollution is fogging up the sky
Hard to deny
The ocean’s rising forever nigh
Hard to deny

Perpetuate the lie
Propagate the con
And the band played on
You’re in the middle
With Nero on fiddle
And the band played on

For sure glaciers going bye-bye
Hard to deny
Wildfires burn high, high, high
Hard to deny

Perpetuate the lie
Propagate the con
And the band played on
You’re in the middle
With Nero on fiddle
And the band played on

Our reservoir ran dry
Hard to deny
A flood of mud up to the eye / I
Hard to deny

Perpetuate the lie
Propagate the con
And the band played on
You’re in the middle
With Nero on fiddle
And the band played on

The song portrays a poignant commentary on the devastating impacts of climate change with a reference to Nero, the Roman emperor famously associated with fiddling while Rome burned. The lyrics emphasize the visible consequences of environmental degradation, such as air pollution and rising oceans, and draw parallels to historical denial and inaction. The repeated refrain, “And the band played on,” suggests a metaphorical continuation of frivolous activities despite the impending crisis, highlighting the negligence and perpetuation of misinformation. The imagery of glaciers melting, wildfires raging, and reservoirs running dry vividly captures the urgency and severity of the climate crisis, making it “hard to deny.” Overall, the song serves as a powerful call to acknowledge the environmental challenges and take meaningful action.

Climate fools that continue to deny and lie.  Humans will have difficulty adapting to climate change.  In 2023, I wrote the paper, “Climate Change: How Long Is ‘Ever’?“. When we wrote the referenced Tunnel Under Thesis (1995), we forecast these extreme climate events would not happen for centuries. We underestimated Man’s ignorance and arrogance. Fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions have continued to set record highs. Humans have caused chain-reactions resulting in domino-effects, snowball effects, and feedback loops.  Events we thought would not happen in our lifetimes are happening now. The facts are hard to deny.

Missed the call
Watch the fall
No matter how tall

Can’t help but tell
In need of love
No matter how big

Know just as well
Push comes to shove
So in need of love

All in all
Been a ball
Missed the call
Watch the fall
Why not watch the plot
Go from “have” to “have not”
When you check the facts
About the climax
No matter how big
The stately pig
The Fat Lady’s swan song sung
Oh so done

LYRICS
Aware of your pollution there
Stare into thin air
No, no solution there
Up in arms
Didn’t hear the alarms
Little too late
To go irate

Aware how this life is rare
Share that you don’t care
No, no solution there
Up in arms
Didn’t sound the alarms
Little too late
To go irate

Aware of the damage done
No care for anyone
No, no solution won
Up in arms
Didn’t heed the alarms
Little too late
To go irate

This song is about people being aware of their impact on the climate, yet continuing to pollute.

“The increasing heating of our planet caused by fossil fuel use is not unexpected, it was predicted already in the 19th century after all,” said climate scientist Stefan Rahmstorf at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research in Germany. “But it is dangerous for us humans and for the ecosystems we depend on. We need to stop it fast.”

This is our current situation. Not “years away”. Not tomorrow. Today.

Stop burning fossil fuels today, stop consuming hydrocarbons today, or else….

In July of 2023, the study Warning of a forthcoming collapse of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation was published in the journal Nature Communications. “Here we provide statistical significance and data-driven estimators for the time of tipping. We estimate a collapse of the AMOC to occur around mid-century (2050) under the current scenario of future emissions.”

Sidd added, “That’s only one paper, and the window is 2025-2095. I suspect there are many surprises in wait for us.”

Is really quite shocking
Looks like there’s no stopping
Build more docking
Deluge attitude
Muddy n’ rude

Should have built taller stilts
Less drowning
Should have climbed higher still
Less frowning

The amount of rainfall falling
Shows human acts appalling
Looks like there’s no stalling

Should have built taller stilts
Less drowning
Should have climbed higher still

From The Momentum of Rain (A Hard Rain Is Falling), “Climate change can affect the intensity and frequency of precipitation. Warmer oceans increase the amount of water that evaporates into the air. When more moisture-laden air moves over land or converges into a storm system, it can produce more intense precipitation — for example, heavier rain and snow storms.”

Hear the tick tock
Of the alarm clock
Before it goes off
In the morning
Forewarning

Steam coming to a head
Dreams hanging by a thread
Pre-mourning
Fare warning
Ingenuity coming
Genuinely brainstorming

Better think something up
about our cup
It’s not half-full
… on empty
Can you see

Steam coming to a head
Dreams hanging by a thread
Pre-mourning
Fare warning
Ingenuity coming
Genuinely brainstorming

So it’s said
We made our bed
6 feet under the daisies
All we dread
We bred their head
Who created the crazies?

Steam coming to a head
Dreams hanging by a thread
Pre-mourning
Fare warning
Ingenuity coming
