LYRICS
How can you tell
If the sky is blue
When their haze
Fogs up your view
Or just as well
If it comes to you
Then a phase
Knew “you do you”
Be beyond
Circumstance
Over understood
Stand
For human
A Men
Agin’
Yet… still the will to instill…
… wishful…
fool… but….
How can you tell
If the sky is blue
When their haze
Fogs up your view

A song about “the long-term breathing experiment” failing the test during the Air Quality Crisis of 2023. The Canadian wildfires caused 4 days in a row of Unhealthy (151 to 200 AQI) to Hazardous (301 and higher AQI) outdoor air quality across much of the United States.

LYRICS
Do you feel like whistling into the wind
Thinking about the way things could have been?
Do you feel like humming ’bout days gone by
Accompany blues strumming… our lull-a-bye?
Not to worry about yesterday
Nor the way you had no say
It’s O.K.
I’ll find a way
I’ll feel I’m whistling with the wind
Bringing about the way
Things are headin’

bookmark_borderClimate Change: Taste It in the Air

LYRICS
Are you feeling it?
Can you taste it in the air
You reeling from it?
Climate change has come to bear
Aware
I’m choking
On the smoking
When you can see, smell, taste, touch
The air
Do you care to share your despair?
Can it be, well, haste, waste, such
To the touch
Is “weigh too much”
… way too much?

Climate change is in the air
You can feel
(Can you feel it a bit?)
Primate rearrange
Beware
The real deal
Literally
Litter you can see
Climate change is in the air
You can feel the real deal

[Dog Barking]
Is his bark worse than his bite?
Not tonight!
(Climate change’s bite is worse than the bark)

Climate change is in the air
You can feel the real deal

This song is about the Canadian wildfires of 2023. Up to this point in time it had been easy for people not to really notice climate change. A gradual rise in temperature of 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit. I mean… what’s the big deal, right? Well, the extreme wildfires are fueled by climate change and people can literally see it. The wildfires create huge CO2 emissions and remove millions of acres of CO2 absorbing old-growth forests creating a worsening feedback loop. Air pollution is: a leading cause of death worldwide, the leading cause of climate change, and the greatest threat to humankind. The good news — the wildfires are very visible. The wildfires are in your face. People can see, smell, taste, and touch the climate change in their face. Perhaps some of the unwoke will wake?

Smoke from wildfires in Canada brought record-breaking air pollution to the United States this spring, creating dangerous air quality from Bismarck, N.D., to Denver and Detroit to New York City and Washington. According to a Washington Post analysis of smoke data through June 7 (2023) from Stanford University, 197 air quality monitoring stations have reported all-time high pollution from wildfires.

This line is about everyone on my facebook feed waking up:
Do you care to share your despair?

LYRICS
Amidst a thickening mist
A fatal twist
No joke
That haze is smoke
Haze from a blaze
Enough to make you choke!
[siren sounding jam interlude]

Phased by the thickening haze
Could go on for days and days
No joke
That haze is smoke
Haze from a blaze
Enough to make you choke!
[siren sounding jam interlude]

Clogged with thickening fog
Pig roasted fat hog
No joke
That haze is smoke
Haze from a blaze
Enough to make you choke!
[siren sounding jam interlude]

A song about the air quality in Pennsylvania during June of 2023 as the smoke from the Canadian wildfires impacts life expectancy. The Northeastern USA saw its worst air quality ever. The alert system is color coded:

Daily AQI Color Levels of Concern Values of Index
Orange Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups 101 to 150
Red Unhealthy 151 to 200
Purple Very Unhealthy 201 to 300
Maroon Hazardous 301 and higher

Where I live was in the Purple alert for days. Many of my friends and family were in the Maroon zone. Air pollution is: a leading cause of death worldwide, the leading cause of climate change, and the greatest threat to humankind.

LYRICS
What about that cold front?
Or crustacean invasion?
Where the extreme won’t relent
You’ve got to eat your excretions
In dismay
About gourmet
Our whiskey sour
Excrement
Experiment

They said it wouldn’t amount to much
Now weigh too much
Where the extreme won’t relent
You’ve got to eat your excretions
In dismay
About gourmet
Our whiskey sour
Excrement

Put the crab on my tab
He’s been dying to “meat” me
Let me take a stab
You’re willing to treat me?
Where the extreme won’t relent
You’ve got to eat your excretions
In dismay
About gourmet
Our whiskey sour

A song about how climate change is causing the New England coastal waters to warm and humans to adapt. The famous Maine lobsters are moving North and the invasive miniature green crabs are taking over (eating all the other sea creatures.) So, the humans are turning the green crabs into whiskey, as well as, cracking, cooking and eating them whole like popcorn.

LYRICS
Do you crave a way
To save the day
Every once in a while
In a brave foray
Rescue Mayday
Dogs in a pile
Every once in a while
People hope and pray
You’ll find a way
Hero style
Dogs in a pile
Every once in a while

The White Knight
Delivers the light
The damn souls in distress
Confess
Indeed
They’re in need
Stop the bleed
Calling on you
To pull through
Every once in a while

Don’t you want a little bit of…
Quality air
The problem is I’m unaware of…
Any there
Any anywhere
That I’m aware
Cupboard’s bare
It’s time we pay attention
To our unintended consequences
Burning bridges and building fences
At last a grasp of comprehension
Stand for understand
Understand?

2. Wildfires to the West
Wildfires to the East
Breathability at its least
Deniability at its best
[chorus]

3. Ozone prone zone
Packed with particulates
Kiss at your own risk
Hold your breath till death
[chorus]

A song about climate change and pollution. In May of 2023, wildfires across Canada were impacting the air quality in the Northeastern USA. High particulate matter caused unhealthy air quality. Then on June 1, 2023, ozone pollution made the air unhealthy to breath. Air pollution is a leading cause of death worldwide. The solution to both the particulate and ozone problems leads to same conclusion — stop human induced climate change.

Just how much more?

The glacier confessed
To complete defeat
Warming to retreat
The messed up
Is going down
Time to take a look around

The ocean on an acid trip
While the ‘bergs continue to drip, drip, drip
You guessed it…
The messed up
Is going down
Time to take a look around

The energy, though hard to see
Comes to be
With intensity
Know what it means
At the extremes
As is meant
In weather event
Not whether event
Certainly with energy, though hard to see
It’s all around me
So you see
It’s time we
Fessed-up
The messed up
Is going down
Time to take a look around

All the pretty maids made their rows
The man-made cascades
“Follow the falling dominoes”

You’ll all know

Oh, dominoes
Oh, dominoes

Our faux-tip-toe
Turned friend to foe
Now watch us go
From to to fro
“Follow the falling dominoes”
You’ll know
You’ll all know
Donin-knows
Oh, dominoes
Oh, dominoes

Comes undone
With the very first one
The first to fall…
And then them all
“Follow the falling dominoes”
You’ll know
You’ll all know
Donin-knows
Oh, dominoes
Oh, dominoes

To see us through?
Hard to make gain

It’s gone over the top

Gone over the big-top

Then “who would have ever thought?”

A 3-ring attraction
Slight-of-hand distraction
Even the ringmaster
Is calling for disaster
Coming much faster
Then “who would have ever thought?”
Time to reap what we’ve wrought

A clown-car collision
Man-made decision
Even the ringmaster
