[Silence]
[Instrumental: Hohner Clavinet, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, sub-bass, organ, percussion, drums]
[Intro]
Long ago there was an anthem
Absurd, but nobody knew a word
So mostly we would just try to hum some
and the rest of it went something like this:
[Refrain]
We don’t know
(The god damn words)
We don’t know
(The god damn words)
Nooo.. We don’t know
(The god damn words)
Then… we’d hum some…
(And… hmmmm… we’d hum some more)
… for sure…
… what you say is true
(We never knew…)
… a word…
(How absurd?)
And sure enough…
(Call my bluff)
It would come around again…
(Begin:)
[Refrain]
We don’t know
(The god damn words)
We don’t know
(The god damn words)
Nooo.. We don’t know
(The god damn words)
Then… we’d hum some…
(And… hmmmm… we’d hum some more)
[Refrain]
We don’t know
(The god damn words)
We don’t know
(The god damn words)
Nooo.. We don’t know
(The god damn words)
[Outro]
Then… we’d hum some…
(And… hmmmm… we’d hum some more)
Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, the hmmm hmmmm
(No, we don’t… )
Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, the hmmm hmmmm
(No, we don’t… )
And… hmmmm… we’d hum some more
Once again there is an anthem
Absurd, but nobody knows a word
So mostly we just try to hum some
(Shhh… so “the word” is mum)
