bookmark_borderI’d Rather Do That

LYRICS
We can fight, kick and scream
We can destroy… try n’ shatter the dream
Or…
We can have cake and ice cream?

I’d rather do that
Peace, love and understanding
Is where it’s at
I’d rather do that

We can siphon off the cream
Pollute every stream
Turn it all brown from green
Rob every child from being a teen
Or…
We can take a ride on a moonbeam

Dance and sing
Create a beautiful thing
Movement and color
A delightful scene

You can bet I’d rather do that
’till the day I die
I’d rather do that

LYRICS
If you go indifferent
You’ll come out different
When time turns real
Don’t forget how to feel

You’re running the rat race
Getting fat for the cat
Gonna bury your soul with that hunk of meat?
R.I.P. Rest In Peace

You seem to forget
An eternity of regret
Seize the moment
Less the moment seizure you

ABOUT THIS SONG
Capo 2
Written and recorded in Ambler and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 20, 2012. It’s about a disease that attacks most humans — growing old. As children turn into adults, they tend to become indifferent about life. Please, oh please, Lord… not me.

We can weather
Weather any storm
We can prosper
Rise above the alarm

We can see
Returning to the sea
Or, rather
The sea returns to us?

From the sea
The contents of us…
Be
Let’s gather
Celebrate humanity
… we can be glorious

Mostly, H2O
A dash of salt
Built with know

Let us play
Sing and dance the day away

ABOUT THIS SONG

Written and recorded on May 19, 2012 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. It is a song about what humans are made of… including the ghost in the machine. Approximately 70 percent of the human body is made up of water. Our waste is mostly salt water. However, there is that part we call the soul. While I was writing the song, three children climbed up onto the pedestal of the statue and commenced to do a wild jig. That was exactly the ghost in the machine I was trying to describe.

LYRICS
“I don’t even know what’s under there”
Into space, I stare
And, wonder
Have you ever even thought of scratching the surface?

Blow away some debris
See what you see
Throw away your pedigree
Set yourself free

Decorate with fringe and lace
Celebrate with friends
Our place
God of Thunder
Loving Mother Earth
That fave us birth

Only a fool fears being a fool

Depth charge your soul
And, see what will surface

LYRICS
Sometimes the littlest thing
Is not a trivial thing
The way a bird can sing
And, wake you in the morning

The way the atmosphere can make the sky appear
Blue
The way the smile in your eye
Lifts my heart… I can fly!

I dreamed I flew to you
The next scene… explicit… too

LYRICS
Strapped into our car seats
We roll down our windows
Wave and give thumbs up

We stretch out of our strollers
Spin our head like an owl
Hoot. Scream. Let out a howl!

We’re the preschool of rock
We love our beats
We’re the preschool of rock
Feel free. Tap your feet.
We’re the preschool of rock
What a musical treat
We’re the preschool of rock
Sweet for our ears to eat
We’re the preschool of rock
Let’s turn up the heat
We’re the preschool of rock
So happy to meet
We’re the preschool of rock
Let’s rock the block
We’re the preschool of rock

Puttin’ on the new shoes tonight
Steppin’ on the red carpet’s alright
Wish I may, wish I might
Make that silver screen shine bright

My Dear
World premiere
Making moving pictures
Movie star’s in my future
Wish I may, wish I might
Make that silver screen shine bright

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
First star I see tonight
Wish I may, wish I might
Make that silver screen shine bright

Puttin’ on the new dress — formal ball
Everybody’s trying to call
[Have my agent take their name
While I try n’ stay sane]

Red carpet and silver screen
For my motion picture’s opening scene
Wish I may, wish I might
Make that silver screen shine bright

Bang! Wow! Pop!
There’s another
And, another
Another

You hear
Idea
You here
Idea

We get together
Think up good thought
Can we get together
Why not?

Help save the world
We’ve helped to kill
Help build a mountain
Out of our mole hill
With a hallelujah refrain
Partaking in the idea guild

Bang! Wow! Pop!
There’s another
And, another
Another

Just off the top
Of my head
Formulate
Let it be said

Not the ordinary
Regurgitate
Investigate
An original idea
An encyclopedia of hope
With a slope
For the good
So we can hope to cope
So we’re apt to adapt
Not a rope
To choke

With a slant
Toward the planet

ABOUT THE SONG
This song was written and recorded in West Chester, Pennsylvania on April 21, 2012. It was inspired by a group of girls fundraising for the American Cancer Society. The true love expressed by youth gives hope. While I was working on the music and lyrics, I sat on a bench next to the youth. The above lyrics that are in quotes were taken from their conversations; however, I was still at a loss for a title. Then, I heard a voice say, “young love”.

LYRICS
Why not just say who you are
Is it really, really that hared?

Yes, once you go back that far
It becomes harder to find the word

A father’s daughter
Becomes the Maiden of St. Peter
Why they called her Dodo I don’t know

It really is that hard to say who you are
A piece from here. A piece from there.
Making up something unique

Is being unique to be a freak?

Why not just say who you are?
Have you ever even given thought
As in what you are not?

Are you really, really that far…?

I whisper to myself these thoughts
And, how it applies to the have’s and the have not’s

ABOUT THE SONG
Capo 1 Am / C add pinky to the 6th string 4th fret

Written on the boulders of Saint Peter’s Village in Pennsylvania. They say the giant boulders were pushed the furthest south by a proceeding glacier during the ice age. If you look through a birds-eye-view, you can see rocks that resemble huge dinosaur pieces.

LYRICS
Travelin’ back
There’s no need for a time machine
Travelin’ back
Rollin’ up the consciousness stream

Upstream
To the top of the hill
A southern breeze dodges the trees
Taking away the water’s chill

Livin’ heaven’s dream

The Season of Passion

Eve takes a bite from Cupid’s apple
The passion fruit blossoms
The wind will enable
And, scatter their sum some
Until the current brings us back
To where we started from

Fourth Base .mp3 (free music download)

Though never a big league ball player, I do enjoy playing the All-American-Past-Time from time-to-time. The one thing that does come to mind is when a youngster is on base… and a bigger fellow hits a home run. You can yell, “Run to first.” You can yell, “Run to second.” You can yell, “Run to third.” However, if you yell, “Run home” you run the risk that the lad will do just that. Thus, the name of the song *Fourth Base*

ADDITIONAL LYRICS
You Might find it funny
But, you’re already home

There ya go strutting down the street
Always in search of your comfort zone
You don’t need to beat an easy feat
You’re never alone if you’re always at home
It’s within your reach… you don’t need to roam
You may find it funny, but you’re already home

No need to reach
No need to roam
Self teach
No moan

You might find it funny, but you’re already home

ABOUT THE SONG
Daniel — vocals, guitar
The song was written and recorded in Ambler and West Chester, Pennsylvania on an 8-track digital recorder. 1 track was used for guitar. 2 tracks were used for a stereo vocal track. 3 tracks were used for individual backing vocals. 2 tracks were used to create a stereo master mix.

The inspiration for the guitar lick and the lyrics came from the vibe of the people passing by.
