We wrote and recorded this song on December 14, 2023 while your Ma-ma and Da-da where at a Christmas Party. You loved your Christmas tree. Your favorite song was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, so you loved finding the stars on the tree. But most of all, you liked the fact that you could hide behind your Christmas tree. I brought my guitar and portable studio. We wrote and recorded this song live under your Christmas tree. Since it is a 1-track demo with dubious vocal quality, we also recorded a stereo guitar track to be made into a higher quality 8-track recording.

A song co-written with you on September 11, 2023 while your mama and dada went out to a birthday dinner. You loved leading me on new adventures. You would grab my hand and signal, “Walk right this way. Let’s go play.” You also loved sitting on top of my shoulders and going for walks. Sometimes while sitting up there you would start pounding on my head, “Order in the pop-pop!”. Then you would stick your fingers in my ears until I said, “Ears.” Next, you would twist your body around until you could look me right in the eye.

We went for a ride in your wagon. Part-way through you climbed out and wanted to push the wagon backwards, so I helped by pulling backwards with you. You also loved the water. We often played with a hose and little swimming pool. On this night, you took a bath… running down the hall to hop in the tub. Once in the bath, you kept showing me your bellybutton. When you found out that I also had a bellybutton, you would go back and forth between your bellybutton and mine.

Foraging for edible plants was another of your favorite activities. You would guide me to your raspberries, blackberries, and even pineapple mint.

You had very good hearing and could distinguish sounds from great distances.  From cars or trucks to barking dogs, you would recognize and respond.  On this night there was a barking dog a couple blocks away, you lifted your head and barked back.

Most of all, you loved to sing and dance to my guitar. You would jump up and down, come over and strum the strings, and stick your finger in the output jack. Thanks for all your love and care. You are the best songwriting partner.

One of the first songs we wrote together. Though Aurora didn’t find it as danceable as Aurora’s Song (Dance!), she was kept quite amused at my attempts to sing falsetto. She started vocalizing to this song, but quickly moved on to prefer singing rock vocals (at high volumes.)

For the first couple months of Aurora’s life I would play her music on the guitar. Classics such as “Mama’s Little Baby”, “Twinkle Twinkle”, “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, and “My A,B,C’s”. We also started experimenting with originals. One of these originals (later to be called “Aurora’s Song”) was amazing to watch develop. Before Aurora could walk, she had a jumper chair. As soon as I would start to play the rhythm, she would start jumping. Then the very first day she learned to crawl, I started playing the rhythm. She crawled right up my leg and started dancing and singing! Now, we try to play, dance, and sing every day.

Q: Do you know what are two of the most dangerous exposures for children and the elderly?
A: Fresh air and sunshine

On days like today, do not go out and play. The sun can damage your skin and cause cancer.

Sunshine is also part of a deadly reaction.  When combined with heat and volatile gases, ultraviolet light causes a deadly reaction by creating  tropospheric ozone.

The dangerous ozone (O3) is created when vehicle (and other) exhaust is not completely combusted. Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the exhaust react to temperature and sunlight creating tropospheric ozone (O3).

The ozone in the air can cause permanent damage to your respiratory and immune systems.
