LYRICS
You’re a monster

You’re a monster
In everything you do
You do, you do
In everything you will
You will, you will
You can’t help
You’re a monster

You’re larger than life
You can play the bass
Like a monster
You can sing
Like nothing
Or, everything
Certainly something
Why did you say nothing?
Like nothing else compares

You’re a monster

You Are A Monster.mp3

ABOUT THE SONG
Chords — G Gm F G A Am

Written in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Digital, 1-track stereo, extemporaneous recording. This song was inspired by friend Rick Reinhart calling me a monster (in a good way.) It made me think of my analogy the “Friendly Dragon”.  A friendly dragon walked into the main street street of a village. The people on the left side of the street saw him and started screaming in terror. When the dragon turned to comfort the paniced people, his tail swung around and destroyed the right side of the village. Moral: be careful with your power even if your intentions are good.

Getting Closer.mp3

LYRICS
Here I am
There you are
Aren’t we standing just a little too far
Apart
Let’s start
Getting Closer
Negate
Separate
Gaining closure

Here I can
You can, too
Shouldn’t we do all we can do?
Negate
Separate
Getting closer
Abate
Desperate
Heart tender

Tender-hearted
Let’s get started

LYRICS
Let me tell ya a story
About a little blues
It’s not so much a deep purple
Just a lil’ blues

A little blues
Just add a little green
It doesn’t always have to be on the other side of the fence
Hence…
A little blues

LYRICS
Everybody out of the pool!
Look out
Here comes the flood
Unless you don’t want your blood
As long as you want your blood to flow
I hope you know…
Know how to swim

The situation
Your going against the current
By the way
You’re not making any headway
When you’re swimming up stream
No matter what you deem
When you’re swimming up stream
No matter what you deem
So, I hope you know how to swim
If you forgot, I hope you remember again
Got to swim
Here comes the flood
Got to swim
Here comes the flood

If you know how to swim
There’s a chance to win

LYRICS
What are you talking about?

What are you talking about?
I can see your lips move
But, I can’t understand
What you demand

Who made you king of the world

What are you talking about?

Have you gone mad
Trying to make people sad

It’s been way too long that you’ve been wrong
I didn’t mean to be the one to point it out
But, there’s only so much you can dish out
What are you talking about?

Her Eyes Upon Me.mp3

LYRICS
Is she looking at me?

As she walks in the door
Across the dance floor
Beaming from ear-to-ear
With the smile upon her face
Drawing ever near
Wrapping arms around me in an embrace

Is she looking at me?

She looks me in the eye
Then, I know
She looks I in the eye
Then, I knew
Oh, yeah! She’s looking at me

It feels oh so good
The way she wraps her arms around me
It’s a glimpse of heaven I see

Ahhh… she’s looking at me

We can solve
With our love
We can solve what is us

The dilemma that is us

All the fuss

All the fuss we created
Caused us to be dated
But, with our love
We can solve the dilemma that is us

It’s not to late for us to create
When we get together with a love forever
We can solve the dilemma that is us
We can solve the dilemma that’s our mess

LYRICS
My oh my
You think you can make that pig fly

Fat chance
If you think you can get that pig to dance

You might as well be writing some paperback romance
’cause you’re dreaming
In case you didn’t get it
You’re having a nightmare
And, I can only see one way clear —
Wake up!

There’s no way you will remain
Unless you pray for an angelic refrain

Do you not understand
The serious nature
Of our accusations
Can’t you see that in a straight jacket
You have limited options

C,c,c,c,c, control

Order in the court
This is criminal
It ain’t no tort

There is no chance
You will get out of this unscathed
There is very, very little chance
You’ll be saved

LYRICS
There will be a time
When the Earth and sky fly
And, you’ll be faced with a lake of fire
And, you’ll be wishing you could get higher

On your Judgement Day
What will you say
Will you find a way
To escape the lake of fire

Every dog has it’s day
And, when it comes to be your day
What will you say
On your Judgement Day

Everybody will meet their maker
After all, you met your mom
When you first started living
In her womb
Now you think you don’t have enough room

Your money ain’t no good on the other side

Writing the song Oh! Susanna Part 2

LYRICS
It rained all night the day I left
The it was dry
And, we all go marching
Down into the ground
To get out of the rain

When January feels like June
Wake up! Wake up! And, none too soon
And we all go searching
Everywhere all around
To get our of the rain

Oh! Susanna
Won’t you cry for me
Oh! Susanna
All can surely see
Oh! Susanna
It’s a tragedy

Oh! Susanna Part 2.mp3

ABOUT THE SONG
Chords — Capo 1
C Am
G Am

Written and recorded on January 12, 2013 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania as a digital, 4-track stereo, extemporaneous recording. After posting this status on Facebook, the song was written and recorded on the streets: “Hmmm… 60 degrees in January… perfect day to take music to the streets… maybe write a global warming song?”

It started while I was sleeping… I heard a news report about severe weather being the new normal. Then, I started hearing a mix of the Stephen Foster song Oh! Susanna and the children’s version of Johnny Comes Marching Home known as The Ants Go Marching (and a dash if You Are My Sunshine)… kind-of tossing traditional irony with a modern day twist.
