Now, that
Took me by surprise
How about you?
Wow! That
Took me by surprise
Impromptu

I get
A new pair of shoes
Probably
The ones you lose
But, they
Sure help
This dancing muse

All those
Lights are flashing
A K-9 unit, too?
That blows
The crowd dashing
To get out of view

The truck
Pulling out
The truck
Gets stuck
In the mud
The jerk offs
Pulling their pud
Wanna be called
Office-sir

While life
Goes by
In a blur

ABOUT THIS SONG
It was my birthday. Because of prior obligations, I did not think I would be free. At the last minute, the situation changed. So, we had a surprise party. As it was Halloween, we took are party on the road and ended up at another costume party.

It was raining hard. Cars got stuck in the mud. A friend of mine was dressed up like an Asian Santa Clause. The mud was so deep she took off her shoes and handed them to me. While I was walking around holding them, a caravan of police vehicles arrived. The crowd scattered.

The next day on FaceBook I wrote:
Now THAT was a surprise party… not sure who was surprised more… me or you?

And, the friend wrote:
Where the heck did you go last night!? haha i was hiding in the car from the cops for an hour and then you were gone :o( buuuut it was fun glad you came out and hope you had an awesome birthday.. ps do you have asian santas shoes? lol

To which I replied:
Ha… I thought the shoes were my birthday present from Santa? By the way, you inspired a new song.

C / F (with an island feel)

Like the way you smile
The sparkle in your eye
And, I’m thinking
All the while

I, I, I
Get this feeling
In your presence
I, I, I
Get this reeling
From you essence

Why, why, why
Is getting to know you
So intriguing
Is getting nearer you
So soothing

Like the way you move
The way you say, “Hi”
And, I’m thinking
Together
We groove
Smooth

I care
Like to hear your laugh
Funny things you say
We’re more than half
… more than half way
There
Our glass half full
Optimistically
Wonderful

Attention Span .MP3 Download

It goes in one ear
And, out the other
Never coming near
The attention span
Never coming in
Clear

It’s a good thing
We don’t depend
On our bridging
The gap
If the synapse
Is an indicator…
Or, we’d all be
Later

If we let time lapse
Everything we fear
Will be upon us
So, lets gain focus
Less it be our end
Let’s hear it clear
It can’t go in one ear
And, out the other
Forever missing —
The attention span

No, no, no
Instead,
Let’s be led
To human, upon human,
Forming The Attention Span

We can
Span any divide
No matter how wide —
The attention span

Bridge any distance
No matter how far
Overcome resistance
To being bizarre
The attention span

After all,
What’s so bizarre
To listening?
Needn’t fall
Maim or mare
Global positioning
The attention span
Of human

Superstitious .MP3 Download And Lyrics

ABOUT THIS SONG
This song was written about the superstition and Halloween.

“Halloween has always been a holiday filled with mystery, magic and superstition. It began as a Celtic end-of-summer festival during which people felt especially close to deceased relatives and friends. For these friendly spirits, they set places at the dinner table, left treats on doorsteps and along the side of the road and lit candles to help loved ones find their way back to the spirit world.” — History.com

“Superstition is a credulous belief or notion, not based on reason, knowledge, or experience. The word is often used pejoratively to refer to folk beliefs deemed irrational. This leads to some superstitions being called “old wives’ tales”. It is also commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, prophecy and spiritual beings, particularly the irrational belief that future events can be influenced or foretold by specific unrelated prior events.

The etymology is from the classical Latin superstitio, literally “a standing over”, hence: “amazement, wonder, dread, especially of the divine or supernatural” The word is attested in the 1st century BC, notably in Cicero, Livy, Ovid, in the meaning of an unreasonable or excessive belief in fear or magic, especially foreign or fantastical ideas. By the 1st century AD, it came to refer to “religious awe, sanctity; a religious rite” more generally.” — Wikipedia.org

ABOUT THIS SONG
Have you ever thought about how they celebrate Christmas in heaven? It’s unlikely would follow many of the Earthly traditions. Without smell, taste, touch, sound nor smell… well, it is hard to imagine what Christmas would be like. No smell of fresh backing cookies, the pine tree or chestnuts roasting on an open fire. No sounds of children unwrapping presents or Christmas carolers. No sights of presents with ribbons and bows. However, Christmas in heaven could be so much more. Angels singing and dancing? The splendor of love permeating throughout?

Hey! Maybe every day is Christmas in heaven?

Fear It .MP3 Download and Lyrics

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
— Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR)

ABOUT THIS SONG
The FDR quote always seemed a little strange to me. After all, what else can you fear? Fear isn’t sweet. Fear isn’t sour. Fear is fear.

Halloween is a time of year when you get to think about fear. If you think about all the frightening things, the thing that should be feared the most is probably human. Humans kill humans. Humans kill their habitat. Maybe we should be a little afraid of what we are doing? Maybe the quote should be “The only thing we have to fear is fear ourself”?

About The Song
This song was written and recorded on a cold October day. It was snowing heavily in parts of Pennsylvania. The unusual precipitation got me thinking about the how things together in a weather system.

If hydrogen and oxygen could get together with forming unique snowflakes that act together as one “weather system”, why couldn’t humans act together as one “whether system”?

It was recorded on a Roland Boss BR-600 digital recorded using a stereo track for instrumentation and two stereo tracks for vocals.

Chords: Dm / Bb / C

B / Cm Dim / Bm

Peering at my peers
I see their fears
Of being different
Making them intolerant
Of those that are

Peering at my peers
I see their fears
Of being slightly odd
Making them rob
The innocence
Of those that are

Peering at my peers
I see their fears
Of being somewhat strange
Making them re-arrange
Their arrogance
A bit too far

There go
Id and ego
Rampaging
Super ego
Locked up tight
Trample my right
To be free
To be me

What a pity
Their conformity
What a shame
To ruin the game

Hey, robot!
Why not
Get loose
And, lighten up
Over the hump
You choose
Your cage
You choose
Your age

lyrics
If it weren’t for my skin
Holding me in
I would get out
And spill about

The receptical for my soul
Grows older by the minute
Yet, the soul doesn’t age
Keeps me young at heart
The soul doing its part
The body as its stage
Together a conduit
Unveil, reveal and dole
The life I’m living
The life I”m giving

The life I’ve been given
Is a gift from heaven
From the day of my birth
And, all my time on Earth
Life is precious
Living… delicious

If it weren’t for my skin
Holding me in
I would get out
And spill about

The summer
Came and went
So quickly
Now, the fall
Is settling in

The numb-er
Is the gent
Who luckily
Missed the ball
In oblivion

Unaware
It’s the season
Of Change
Unaware
There’s reason
To re-arrange
Unaware
Or doesn’t care
To share

Soon winter
Will arrive
Moving closer
To a new year
To a new age

Sets the stage
For “all clear”
No more loser
Left alive
Come together

The fall
Will be over
And all
Come together

Tell me this again:
Time is growing thin
Many will lose
And, some may win

The who whose
Baring a grin
Looked within
And, gave throughout
The entire route
From birth to death
Earns worth

One second’s value
Is the same as two
The value holds true
I can’t save time
For a rainy day
I can’t accumulate
At any rate
Time

I’m
To emulate
My potential
The energy in me
Make my genetic
Kinetic
The value in me

Figure how
To find the value
In now

One second’s value
Is the same as two…
Or more
The value holds true
For sure
Put meant
In every
Moment
Make very
Important
The present

No, I can’t wait
I just can’t wait

When we see
Our destiny

We set a course in motion
And, according to Newton
We’re about to learn
That this object in motion
Is going to destruct
Under it’s own propulsion

I just can’t wait
Anticipate the date of our fate
Where we collapse
Under our own weight

Do we love to love
Do we love to hate
Do we hate hate?
