Songwriting in Times Square, NYC
Songwriting in Times Square, NYC

This song was written and recorded at Times Square, New York, NY.

This song was inspired by the all those who have immigrated to the USA… those that have passed through Ellis Island… and… anyone who has been forced to an island before becoming a citizen. A similar tragedy is happening right now in Australia at Christmas Island. Hmmmm… Christmas Island… an ironic name of a place to send misfit refugees?

Times Square Guitar Playing

A song about the thrill of watching humans run in their self-created rat race.

LYRICS
Ain’t got the rainy day blues
’cause I see the rainbow hues
Since I can’t go out anyway
Might as well stay in and play

Ain’t got the rainy day blues
Ain’t got to be paying dues
Why don’t we all while away
We can sway, dance and play

LYRICS
Not puppet
Nor marionette
Not God’s pet
You have your freewill
Yet, you bet on remote control
Until you set yourself free…
I guess you’ll always be…
Under control
Still acting possessed by some sort-of troll

Not inmate
Nor Wizard Of Oz
Not God’s fate
You have your freewill
Still, you bet on remote control

ABOUT THE SONG
D slide up to the 5th, 4th, 3rd frets

Written and recorded on September 17 and 18, 2012 at Marsh Creek and Exton, PA.  I started writing this song while sitting along the lake at Marsh Creek State Park watching a man operate his remote controlled boat.  Do some people think they are controlled by God in the same way?

bookmark_borderUnexpected Applause

LYRICS
From across the street… thundering applause
Then, a yell from a junk
Bring on the funk

Life’s your stage
Don’t act your age
Life’s our stage
Unlock your cage

Sometimes it’s best when the song ends
Giving rise to the tide… the audience begins

Clap your hands
Whistle and shout
Let love’s emotion out

[ruckus takes place]

Sometimes the feat of the street
Posses your beat
You don’t wanna fade out
Rather end with a bang
No, don’t wanna fade out [fake fade out]
Want this song to be sang
Sing, sang, sung

The miles of smiles riles
Imagination
Creation
Salvation
Stimulation
Imagination

ABOUT THIS SONG
Capo 2

Am / G

Written and recorded September 14, 2012 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The song started off being inspired by an old Blondie song on the radio, “Call Me”. Then, while I was writing the guitar part, an unexpected round of applause started from across the street. Next, I was recording the vocals inside the cab of the mobile recording studio… right when it was time to sing “Sometimes the feat of the street posses your beat”… a couple kids caused a severe banging on the vehicle. There is nothing like playing and creating music… especially when there is audience participation.

LYRICS
There’s a lot going on
There’s a lot going on here
There’s a lot going on right here (right now)

Understanding
Am I being clear
Demanding
Causing some to fear
Unable to take it in
Confusion confusing
Confusing confusion

Find the mirror
Looking down from above
Eliminate terror
Shining the light of love
