Shark Swimming in the Streets of Margate, NJ
Shark Swimming in the Streets of Margate, NJ During Hurricane Sandy

LYRICS
The wind does howl
To the pour of rain’s growl
Poor, poor, poor visibility (Can’t you see, you can’t see?)
Ohhhh… I thought the day I’d never see
Full moon. High tide.
You’ve got no place left to hide
“Cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good”
You should’ve run, should’ve run just as fast as you could

Full moon. High tide.
Worst time to make landfall
Full moon. High tide.
It’s a wonder if there’s anything left at all

Inspired by:

“Cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good”

the author of “When The Levee Breaks”, Kansas Joe (as made famous by Led Zeppelin)

Pictures I saw going by on the Internet:

The science of a high tide, full moon and landfall of a hurricane —

Higher-than-normal tides — tied to a full moon — have added to Hurricane Sandy’s coastal flooding threat.

As you might expect the explanation is a matter of simple astronomy, not any kind of lunacy associated in folklore with a full moon.

“It’s not the moon’s phase that matters, but the position,” says astronomer Phil Plait on his Bad Astronomy website.

During a full moon, the moon is essentially lined up on the opposite side of the Earth from the sun (this is what allows the near surface of the moon to be illuminated in its full splendor) and the gravitational tug of war between those two intensifies at this time, resulting in higher tides.

This kind of alignment of astronomical objects is called a syzygy (SIH-zhih-jhee) and sailors have understood the effect for centuries. So, for Hurricane Sandy, the higher-than-normal tides that threaten to add to an 11-foot storm surge feared for lower Manhattan are simply a matter of bad timing. — USA Today

People Getting Grooved at the Paoli, PA Blues Festival

LYRICS
I went to a blues festival
But, it was too sad
Then, I saw some heavy metal
They were too, too mad

May the music move you
Any which way
May the music move you
Every which way
So long as you are grooved

When I went to see some county
It was paved over
Then I went to see classic rock
It was a poor pour [Fab-4] cover (let it flow)

May the music move you
Any which way
May the music move you
Every which way
So long as you are grooved

ABOUT THE SONG

Written and recorded in Paoli, PA and West Chester, PA on October 6, 2012. I stared thinking about the term BluesFest. It kind-of felt like an oxymoron. Ya, know… “Festival Of Sadness”. So, it’s a tongue-in-cheek song about music moving people. Whatever music moves you, may you be moved. In fact, when it’s all said and done… I hope you are grooved from the experience.

LYRICS
Ain’t got the rainy day blues
’cause I see the rainbow hues
Since I can’t go out anyway
Might as well stay in and play

Ain’t got the rainy day blues
Ain’t got to be paying dues
Why don’t we all while away
We can sway, dance and play

ABOUT THE SONG
Written and recorded on August 29, 2012 at the corner of Church and Market Streets, West Chester, Pennsylvania.

When I started writing the song, I thought it was going to be impossible to produce an upbeat song with these chords. So, the idea for the song is the title. Where there is a will, there is a way!

A Tree Suffering From Ozone Poisoning

LYRICS
If you can see the sky
Ask: why?

Turn from green to brown
Fall down
Like a cannonball sailed through
Deny it… will you?

Simple reasoning
Points to ozone poisoning

When the conditions are right with sunlight
Volatile ozone ignites
Blasting right through a tree
Blasting right through you and me

Now it’s been sung
Imagine your lung
Without a tree
Where will our oxygen be?

LYRICS
On Tuesday evenings — a get together
Where I play in a rock-and-roll band
It’s inevitable one way or another
Gonna be a party of the grand stand

Meet up at the local pub
Make the girls shake their hips
After the show, embrace lips in lips
Been hit — the music club

God! I think I’m seeing stars
God! I think I’m hearing stars
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

LYRICS
If I get to the point
Where I’m no use to society
Please take pity
Release Mother of my burden

Life’s worth living
As long as I’m giving
Living in a luxury sweet

When I get to heaven
There’ll be plenty of work worth doing
So as long as my love is flowing
I want to keep on going

[grunt]
Don’t think forever a working grunt
’cause you’re working your way right to the front
If you think there’s enough room in heaven for everyone
Think again
But, with your heart and passion
You’ll be all the fashion walkin’ in

’cause there’s been more than one path beaten to heaven
Of your life is your lesson
There’s been more than one song sung
Consider your life just beginnin’

Foreboding sky approached
Clouds burst open like a water balloon
Soon the river rises
A baptism cleansing you

Don’t want to sell it
Don’t want to take it
A baptism will break ya
Of that habit

Bringing on the casting out of your demon

Cloud burst quench your thirst for salvation
Revitalization of imagination
Realization: your civilization

From the album The Beatless Sense Mongers 2012

I’ve known you a longtime
Until you call me, mine
I’ve known you a longtime
You’ve committed just about every crime

Now our co-sign is dying
No, no… you ain’t no friend of mine

You’ve done me wrong
I’m done singing that song
Ya know I prayed for the day
Now, I’m happy to say.
This is the day.
(Horray)

I’ve been putting
Putting in time
I’ve been trying
Trying!

On my spirit you love to dine
Making me wince… making me whine
Fo’ sure, ya know
Ya ain’t no friend of mine
Nooo, you ain’t no friend of mine

No, you ain’t no friend of mine

LYRICS
If you’re having one of those days
When you don’t know which way to go
You just don’t know

You know it’s true
You can count on my
We’ll see what we can do

Just give me a call
About anything at all
And, I’d be happy to lend a hand
To help understand
What the hell we’re doing
Why we want to ruin… everything

If you’re having one of those days
When you don’t know which way to go
You just don’t know

Well, I’m still standing
Some find it hard to believe
I’ve got an understanding with the Almighty
And, I fall to my knees
And, I try, try, try to please
I fall to my knees

She says, “Whatcha doing? Get up on your feet.
Get out on the street.
You do me no good when you’re there on the floor.
No, no more.
So, get on your feet.
Get on the street”

She doesn’t care if you’re discrete
She just wants you to shout out the beat

Cause I’m still standing after all I’ve been through
And, I’d be more than happy to help you
I’m still standing
I know it’s true

ABOUT THE SONG
The music and lyrics are performed in a freestyle fashion. The extemporaneous words help exhibit what the song is about. Imagine if I had a dream… and the dream was about helping to make your dream come true… and your dream was about helping someone else’s dream come true… and so on… until it came full circle back to someone wanting to help make my dream come true. What else would a dreamer dream about?

LYRICS
Everything you’ve imagined will be there
No, no matter
No matter what I might of thought
No matter what we may have thought
This is what we’ve wrought
And, now it’s possible
It’s possible for all your dreams to come true
Like it or not
Yes, everything you’ve imagined that was good
Everything you’ve imagined
All your dreams can come true
Your dreams can come true

If all the beings had all the dreams
And, they brought them together in a beautiful fashion
Just image the dreams of the dreams
And, they compounded
You add them up
And, multiply

The smallest child
They can dream
Enlist the dreams of the dreamers
And, we build upon the dream
Build upon a dream
All our dreams can come true

We multiply the I
Let’s dream a dream together
If we really want to
We can make the dream come true

LYRICS
There’s beauty there
Though it might look
Like it’s ugly
If you stand back
Take it all in
Then you’ll begin
To see
The light shine on
Shine on everything
Oh, oh, everywhere
There’s beauty there

The way she walks
Is very smooth
The way she talks
It really soothes
When she looks me
Right in the eye
I easily see
All the beauty

Beautiful blues
Color of her eyes
She really moves
Beautiful blues

Oh, so sorry
I don’t mean ta’stare
Oh, oh, Lordy,
Your mighty fair

Attractively feminine
Feast for my famine
Let my eyes take you in
Again and again and a….

You’re a tasty fare
