LYRICS
What do you know that is good?
What are you going to do for food
In your neighborhood?

What is good that you know?
When it comes to knowledge
Where you gonna go?

Who’s your friend? Who’s your foe?
Who is driving the wedge
Between yes and no?

What is good that you know?
Gonna live by the sword…
Die by the plow?

Writing a Monsanto Protest Song in West Chester, PA
Writing a Monsanto Protest Song in West Chester, PA

ABOUT THIS SONG
At one of my usual haunts for writing music, I had begun a songwriting session… when, a group of people started gathering around me. It appeared as though my “office” had become the site of a Monsanto protest.

So, I figured I’d write this song about it; however, I didn’t have a title. As I went to record the a video of the music, an alarm went off. It seemed to fit. Thus, the name of the song.

LYRICS
“Thank you, Sir!”
I really want to thank you, Sir

When you were sitting there sipping your coffee
I didn’t know if you were even aware of me
Then, when it was time for you to go
Wouldn’t you know…
You got up and said, “Thank you, Sir”
I really want to thank you, Sir

“Thank you, Sir”
I really want to thank you, Sir

When you were driving down the street in your Jeep
You gave a shout out that I want to keep
Thumbs up, “Keep it up!”
“Thank you, Sir”
I really want to thank you, Sir

ABOUT THE SONG
This song was inspired by a writing session in Ambler, PA. While I was playing the guitar, there was a female sitting across the street at Maida coffee. She turned into the first verse. Then as I was writing the first verse, another female came driving by… she is the second verse. Thanks girls!

LYRICS
What’s up?
I wouldn’t take long

’cause long ain’t what we got
Your time is running short
… or, have you forgot
Ashes to ashes… return to dirt

What’s up?
I wouldn’t take long

Since your time is getting cut short
Try ‘en let it out as one long blurt
… or, make ’em tingle with a lil’ jingle
… move ’em along with an uplifting song

What’s up?
I wouldn’t take long

LYRICS
Here they come
Where will they fall
Deaf or dumb
Will they hear the call?

The harder they come
The harder their fall
The bigger they come
The bigger their fall

One by one
No matter how tall
No feeling… they’re numb
Did their brains all stall?

The bigger they come
The harder they fall
The bigger they come
The harder their fall

LYRICS
I suppose if this is the calm before the storm
I should take refuge and heed the warn
If things go helter skelter
Do you want to live in a bomb shelter?

Enough picking have and have nots
Enough debating whys and why nots
Lets get getting while the going is good
Livin’ in the moment… just a bit
Never the regret of would, could, should
(no would of, could of, should of’s)

Hoping you can see that we can be

Have you ever heard a song so absurd?

LYRICS
Through the gauntlet to the guillotine
When you get caught up, get caught up, get caught up…
In the money machine
It’s through the gauntlet to the guillotine

When you get caught up, get caught up, get caught up…
In the money machine
The people are nice…
They’re oh so mean

You’d hope you’d wake from this dream
’cause it’s too obscene
See what you can bring to the scene

You would think enough stink
You would have thought we’ve had enough to drink of that stink

Through the gauntlet to the guillotine
’till you’ve seen everything obscene

Why would you stretch the neck for the blade
Get out of the sun and into the shade
Before you know how to swim, you’d better just wade
Out of the sun and into the shade

Rise again

Prism aura
New age game
Mongoose / Cobra

Parade of drums
To the beat of spirits
The wisdom comes
Can you hear it?

Is the Firebird heard?

[chorus]

Cobra, cobra, cobra, cobra…. mongoose
Run!

Can you hear it?
Is the Firebird heard?
Body on fire
Spirit flaming higher

Oh, yeah… there is a dream sequence where children are playing a game similar to Duck, Duck, Goose… called Cobra, Cobra, Mongoose. Until your re-birth… who is your friend and who is your enemy? And oh yeah, too… the drum parade was no dream.

Major Tom,
What went wrong?
Did you song
Get eatin’ by the machine?

No need to punish your ma
Do you know what I mean?
Bring out your do ra me fa
Chances are you’ll go far
Come clean from the obscene
Dance with a star
You know?
Shakin’ like tremolo
Moving in stereo
(Life’s the same
It’s inside of you
It’s all about you
It’s within and without)

Life’s the same
If you’re lame
Life will never be the same

ABOUT THIS SONG
I made a deal with my co-author (God) that I would not sell out. So, I try not to. However, when it comes to songs that talk about hate or anger, it is tough. I’d prefer not to do these songs… because love is easier. Nevertheless, here it is — what someone’s hate toward us sounds like. Then, as the song progresses, the co-author and I make a suggestion to the hate-monger

instead of them just wearing a black hat, we ask them to crawl back and fade all the way to black. That way no one has to see how ugly. Hate, go away.

[i.e. A song about a hometown near you.]

LYRICS
Yow! Spreading hate like a #%Ckin’ disease
You’ve got the mange, and you’re sporting fleas
Maggots, a leech… maybe some sort-of worm
Has eaten the heart right out of your heart
Now a shadowy, pitiful *lurking in the dark*
Creatures of slime eaten your warm
Fuzzy turned to slurm, harm, germ
[Spreading hate like a #%Ckin’ disease]

Won’t you fade to black
You’re already better than half way (there)
No… no, no, please do not delay
Crawl back
Fade to black
